Description Thank you all so much for all of your support!!! It really means a lot. Especially since I just took this as a simple picture that anyone would take! I really didn't expect this much attention, but please, keep it coming!!

------------------------------

After the bird flew off, I saw that he just sorta fell down into the bushes. I went over to where he fell and found him on his back with his beak against his belly, which I thought was weird. Then when I picked him up, I noticed that he somehow got his talon hooked on his beak. Don't worry PETA, after I took this picture (which shows again just how small humming birds are), I carefully released his talon form his beak. And form then, he flew off into the trees

I think this is a special picture in its own way. Considering the fact that humming birds are so hard to catch pictures of. I'm glad you helped the little guy.

Thanks! And yes, they are very hard to get a good picture of. I have two hummingbird feeders next to my deck, and I've been trying to sneak some in, but they always fly off before I get them! sneaky little guys! >.<

I wouldn't hesitate to help any animal, unless it has the potential to eat me, then i'll get help ;D

Yeah I know!! I feel lucky that I noticed the bird. And yes it was an awesome experience to get that close to a bird, especially a hummingbird. and I can't tell if it's a guy or a girl, how do you know? oO

The males mostly (unless very young adolescents) have more vibrantly colored feathers, and more noticeably a brightly colored throat/bib, while the females generally don't. Little girls typically are a duller, more camouflaged type color (green/brown/gray) with a throat that's white and sometimes speckled

ahh i see. makes sense now. and the color of the feathers was definitely more vibrant because the poor bird was soaked. as i was trying to soak up some of the water, some of the color did come back. but you're probably right nonetheless ;D

Awesome dude! Only time I've seen any kind of bird that close is when my cat caught one and brought it into the house. And, that bird was simply playing dead!

thanks! are you saying that this bird is playing dead? or the one your cat had? if the latter, i doubt it was playing dead

The one my cat had. She brought it into the house and laid it down, and it was COMPLETELY still. Then when I got right up to it and bent down to look, it suddenly jumped up and started flying around! My cat was pretty disappointed that my mom let it go instead of letting her eat it
