"So, you're the one that's been causing all of this havoc?! Why? People deserve freedom and choice! Not blind obedience...I am Diana of Themyscia, Daughter of Hippolyta Queen of the Amazons. In the name of everything good in the world, I will destroy you! I fight on the side of justice and truth, and I most certainly won’t be beaten by the likes of you!”She scowls, drawing her blade and readying her shield. She looks ready for a fight to the death, and she doesn’t look particularly intent on losing.

The hallway immediately outside her room is somewhat less pink, but still bears the overall warmth and comfort of home. Diana finds it incredibly hard to stay outraged, and is barely a few steps past her mother before she finds herself struggling to remember exactly what she was throwing a tantrum about...

"What in the gods...why did I come in here again....?" *she whirls around and heads back towards her mother*

"Diana, you seem confused. What is the matter? I think, perhaps, you should lie down, take a moment to gather your wits. Today is, after all, a very important day for you."

"Why is it important mother?" *she smiles, her anger having vanished*

"Because, Diana, today is the day your suitors are due to arrive, to compete for your affections, so that you might find a partner to share the rest of your life with. Is true love not the most important thing in the world, Diana?"

"I thought men weren't allowed on our island mother?" *her stance becomes a bit more guarded once more*

"Of course they are not. But the Goddess has provided us many guests from the outside world, and I am sure any of them would be a more than worthy addition to our family."

"....Okay I guess if the goddess is okay with it. Shouldn't I be getting ready then?"

"The banquet is not for another couple of hours. If you would rather have a bit more sleep, I could wake you in a little while... This is important, Diana. The Goddess will be watching us closely, I need you to be on your best behaviour."

"I will mother..." *she gets back into bed* I can sleep more.... *she dozes off again*

She is eventually woken by her mother gently shaking her by the shoulder. Once again, upon waking, she feels wonderful, as if all the bad things she had ever felt had simply faded from her mind.
"Diana, sweetie? It's time. You need to wake up now..."

"Okay...if I have too...." *she stands, yawning cutely* "What am I wearing?"

Hippolyta smiles, giving her daughter a quick kiss on the forehead.
"I picked out a dress I think you'll just love, Diana. It's just over here, hanging in your wardrobe..."
The dress is like something a Disney Princess would wear, pretty and bright and entirely impractical for battle. The strapless, sleeveless red bustier seamlessly merges with its bright blue bustle, decorated with lines of bold, white stars. Paired with it are a pair of pretty red sandals, little star shaped earrings, and Diana's usual silver bracelets.

Hippolyta seems genuinely upset at Diana's reaction.
"If you don't like it, I suppose I could always have Techne try to fashion a replacement, though time is short..."

*she blushes* "N-no! It's not that it's not attractive. It just seems more....domestic...I'm more of a warrior.

"Oh..." Hippolyta breathes a sigh of relief, smiling fondly at Diana as she reaches out, ruffling a hand through her hair.
"Diana. I know you enjoy your lessons with Acclipe, but today is not for Diana, the hero of legend. Today, I need my daughter, Diana, the perfect princess of Themiscyra."

Hippolyta assists, and between the two of them, it takes only a few minutes for Diana to don the outfit.
To be fair to her mother, it was a surprisingly comfortable dress, and when she paused to look into a mirror, Diana did look truly gorgeous in it...

"Of course." Hippolyta smiles, apparently encouraged by Diana's newfound enthusiasm. "Diana... You have grown into a truly wonderful young woman. I hope you know, in your heart, that no mother in the world could possibly be more proud of their daughter than I am of you."

*she smiles* "Thank you mother...but we really should make haste. Won't we be late?"

The walk to the grand hall is familiar, and Diana feels as if she has strolled through these halls all her life. In spite of herself, Diana can't help a peculiar feeling of anticipation building, fluttering its way around inside her tummy... Gods, she was actually excited!
The doors to the grand hall were the only thing separating her from her future wife, whoever she might choose... Her mother gave her hand a comforting squeeze, before pushing the tremendous doors open and leading Diana into the cavernous grand hall.
Scattered around the banquet table were a handful of women, each appearing as regal and beautiful as any of the Amazons.
Her mother whispered in her ear, indicating each of the suitors in turn...
"Lady Mera, the Princess of Atlantis. Our kingdoms have long been allies, and your marriage would cement that bond for all eternity.
Carol Ferris, the Empress of Zammaron. Her Warriors are among the mightiest in the universe, a rival to even the legendary emerald knights of the Green Lantern Corps.
Princess Koriand'r of Tamaran.
Lady Kara Zor-L, of Kandor.
And finally, Lady Katherine Kane, of Gotham City."

"So many choices!" Diana thought, she always used to fantasize about the other woman on the island especially in her teen years. But these women were something else entirely, she could only revel in their absolute beauty and power as she plopped down into what she assumed was her seat

Hippolyta follows Diana to her chair, smiling politely to the various suitors. She places a hand on Diana's shoulder, leaning in to whisper in her ear.
"Remember, the Goddess is watching closely. I know you won't let me down, but please be a good girl... And have fun!"
With a final, quick parting kiss on Diana's cheek, the Queen of the Amazons turns and begins to leave, and in a matter of moments Diana is alone with her suitors...

The assembled group of young women all smile at her warmly.
The nearest to her, Lady Mera, a gorgeous redhead in a dress that appeared to made of scales, shimmering shades of blue and green, was the first to speak up.
"Good morning, Diana. It's lovely to meet you. How would you best like to get to know us all?"

"Well, why don't we go around the table...and you can tell me a bit about yourselves..."

"A wonderful idea, Diana. Well, I suppose I should start... I am Lady Mera, princess of Atlantis. I know our kingdoms, and our families, have been friends for many hundreds of years, but I don't believe I've ever had the pleasure of meeting your highness...
Um... I enjoy singing, and my best friends are dolphins?" she offers with a shrug.

The second woman sat around the table, a raven haired beauty in what appears to be a dress made of gleaming purple crystals, is the next to speak up.
"Hello, Diana. Firstly, may I just say, you are far, far more lovely than any of the stories claim. Truly, they do not do you justice... It is as if Aphrodite herself is among us."

"Well, it's very nice to meet you as well Carol. You're dress is quite stunning as well if may say." *she smiles, her eyes darting to the next suitor*

She smiles back at her, giving a quick wink and blowing a kiss before Diana's eyes can dart away.
The next suitor's bright, almost luminous green eyes quickly catch Diana's attention: along with her golden skin and hair which appears to be made of living, flickering flames, she is most definitely not of this world.
"Greetings, Diana. I am Princess Koriand'r, of Tammaran. Most of my friends call me Kori..."

The woman seated next to her is perfect. There is no other way to describe her. Her sparkling blue eyes and golden blonde hair, proud, pronounced cheekbones, cute little nose...
Dressed in blue with a flowing red cape, she smiles back at Diana.
"Hi. I'm Kara. I, uh, I'm not a princess or an empress or anything... My world is... Well... My world isn't here anymore. But Earth is my home now. I want to do everything I can to thank it's people, to help them... And I think the two of us could do a lot of good together."

Kara returns Diana's smile with one of her own, just as gorgeous as she had expected.
Only one suitor remains, a pale redhead half-slumped over the table, nursing a cup of wine.
She doesn't immediately react, and an uncomfortable silence fills the hall.

*she cocks her head slightly at this* "Excuse me? Ma'am? Are you alright?"

"D-Diana?" she looks up. Her dress, while simple, is elegant, a deep, all-consuming black, contrasting sharply with her vivid red hair and little crimson, bat-shaped earrings.
"Diana, please... You... You have to listen to me... There's some kind of spell, put this weird... Fog over all our minds... You know us all, Diana, we're your friends. We tried to help you, but... I..." she frowns. "Um... What was I talking about?"
Her wine catchers her eye and, with a shrug, she downs the remains of the bottle.
Lady Mera smiles at Diana.
"And the Lady Kane makes the last of us. Don't mind her, she's been perched atop the bar, draining your wine cellars all morning."

(So, yeah, in case it wasn't super-duper clear, Aquawoman, Star Sapphire, Starfire, Supergirl, Batwoman. I've been told before that I need to be aware that not everyone I RP with is as much of a nerd as me 
Almost as if one cue, the grand doors burst open and dozens of women - her mother's servants, Diana remembered - in dainty little black uniforms with white aprons skipped in, effortlessly balancing trays of food which they set down with military efficiency. They all delivered a respectful bow to the assembled ladies, and retreated back out into the corridor, vanishing without a trace in a matter of seconds.
