Description
Huh, it's been a while, hasn't it?Well, I'll make a long story short. For the last... Well, probably couple of years... I haven't been all that fond of my artwork. I've always felt there was something lacking, that I've come to rely far too much on coloring as opposed to lineart. I spent so long trying to produce artwork faster with more and more efficiently, that I forgot the all important point that I'm supposed to actually ENJOY doing these things! It really drove me nuts when I was looking over some of my older pictures in my gallery, and I cam across this: [link]
And there's a few others too, but it made me wonder what the hell happened to that artist?! Where did he go? I know he enjoyed spending time and effort creating his art.
(In case you're all wondering if that's why it's taking so long to get the DC ABC's done... It's not so much that, as it's that DC Comics have been pissing me off a lot lately. I will get them done... Just there's no hurry.)
So my goal here was to sit down and draw something, with no intention of coloring it. I uploaded a high rez version in the downloads, if someone wants to attempt it... But my goal was to draw something, take my time, and really see if I could reconnect with that passion I used to have...
...And it totally worked.
Not saying I'll never color again, that would be stupid. But I really want to embrace the B&W for a while, maybe even do a comic in B&W. I'm well aware that the B&W stuff won't be as popular as the color stuff... But right now, I want to do it this way. So for the first time in a long time, I have no idea where this is going to take me, and I like it.
Hope you like it.

This pic rocks! Your lines are really crisp here. Did you ink it digitally?

For the majority of it, it's by hand. I'm still a traditionalist when it comes to inking. But the sky with the thin white outline around Optimus was done with a quick digital touch up. (This is a snapshot I took of it while inking it: [link] )

And hey, if you're looking for excuses to draw more black and white Transformers art, you could always draw some pages for the [link]

The drawing's pretty awesome. Looks kinda like Hotrod and... I'm taking a bit of a guess, but given the size, maybe a fancy Ultra Magnus? I'm probably wrong, but hey, it's been a while since I've watched the old-school Transformers.

Close! The smaller robot is indeed Hot Rod, but he's a Micromaster now. And the larger one is Optimus Prime, from his return from the dead some Japanese exclusive series. [link]

I'd love to color something of yours someday. Just not right now... I owe some people some coloring projects, and the computer that I have Photoshop on is out of commission right now. :\
