Description Yet another "faux cover" from me, but this one is a little different. (It's probably the last one I do for a bit.) There's no fake 'series blurb' with this one, because... Well, it's a long story. You can read it on my blog, as well as see the original image minus the logo and text here: [link] But the short of it is there's no blurb for it because I actually ended up liking the story idea enough that I'm actually going to do the comic. (Not with Power Girl, but with my own original character.)

But for those of you who are curious to this image in particular... I've always preferred her Atlantean origin, and I think that making her Kryptonian just takes away from her character, making it needlessly complex, as opposed to adding to it. People thought her Atlantean Origin was confusing... So basically, ‘She’s an Atlantean daughter put into hibernation’ is more confusing than ‘She’s another survivor of Krypton from a parallel universe, who also survived her universe being destroyed, and is running around in the current universe as the not-cousin of Superman.’

Right.

She's a great character and I'm glad she's getting more popularity these days. I've always liked her. She's one of my "Holy Quartet of Superheroes", along with Captain Atom, Blue Devil and Firestorm. (I call them that because they were my first superhero comics I truly followed.) I just don't think she needs to share Superman or Supergirl's origin.

I hope you like.

And a side note, it looks like this image will probably push my page views into the 100K mark. I should probably draw something up for that, shouldn't I?

Had it been approached with the confidence in story and artwork of most of the other reboots of that era ( like Superman, Wonderwoman or for that matter Captain Atom, whose 1987 reboot both in story and in costume, was pretty impressive ) i think it could have worked out. Regardless of her origin though, i think the further she holds her 'cousins' at arms length the better in my opinion.

I can't fault your quartet of heroes, all great characters.

This is fantastic. Again!
You're a Blue Devil fan? I'd love to see you do a faux comic for Danny. There's so little BD love out there (doesn't help he's MIA).

Only real issue is that she isn't the last daughter of Atlantis thanks to well . . . Aquaman and the surviving Atlanteans under the sea be they aquamen or mermen. Maybe the last daughter of ancient Atlantis? Though I do like the cover.

Well, it WOULD be ancient Atlantis, since her people weren't water breathers. When she was running around Atlantis, it was like one million years ago.

There's no way she could be an Atlantean. Her chest is too effective a flotation device.

I didn't know about her Atlantean origins. That's cool. I'm all for letting her keep her unique origin as opposed to tacking her onto Superman's story. Let her be her own person. Great pic, too

I'll say one thing, being the sole Atlantean survivor is at least much simpler than her original... origin?
Besides, isn't the whole point of the Superman story that he's the only Kryptonian? I think Matt Moylan put it best. [link]

It's cool to know that you're going back to writing a comic. Still, I really wish I knew how Charon and Becca ended up. Their own story was cut too abruptly.

Yeah, Matt's pretty much right on the nose. I honestly thought the 90's Superman cartoon gave the best solution with Supergirl... Not Kryptonian but from Argos, the sister planet. (And she wasn't rocketed to Earth, but found in suspended animation.) I think when it comes to Superman, too many people want to latch onto him, not realizing they could be strong characters in their own right.

As for Charon and Becka... I know, it sucks. The story is planned to be concluded and collected. It's not the best solution to the situation, but it's what's going on. But if it's any consolation, I'm sure a certain blue eyed girl with a thing for hoodie sweaters and collars will probably make a few appearances in the next project.

I love Power Girl! I enjoy that Atlantis concept when it last, but I just love how Geoff did work on her in JSA: Classified, I hope she finds a place in the new DC 52.
