As I mentioned recently in my journal thingie, I'm redoing the DC's ABCs. I only got to E for Etrigan, and it's been long enough that I felt I should start over. (More detailed explanation here: [link] )We start off with Power Girl's adorable best friend, Atlee, aka Terra, but who gives a crap about that codename they barely call her. (Man I'm of mixed minds about her. On one hand, I really hope she made the Nu52 Universe transfer. On the other hand, I almost hope she didn't, just to preserve her innocence and fun spirit from the cynical butter on grimdark toast the DC Universe seems to have become these days.)

Well, Terra's actually her codename. But I can probably count on one hand the amount of time's she's been called that. She was suggested as Terra, but I moved her to "A" to get thing thing started.

Yeah, first time I've ever heard Atlee. First time I've ever seen her in a costume too! I only know her from the Teen Titans cartoon. I guess she did pick up a costume from Slade that one time. Forgot about that. Anyway! Still a cool pic.

Ah, well... Atlee here is actually the third girl to use the name Terra.
The first, Tara Morkov, was the one you know from the cartoon. (Though she looked different there.) She was eventually killed in a similar story, where she betrayed the Titans for Deathstroke/Slade.
The second was a doppelganger of the first, and she dealt with a lot of crap of people not trusting her, even though she wasn't the original Terra. (In a bit of inverting of tropes, she actually DIDN'T want to be the original. She was actually afraid that she was.) She eventually died when Black Adam preeeetty much obliterated her.
The third one is Atlee, who's a member alien race who live below the Earth's surface in a massive subterranean cave called Strata which is actually the empty spacesuit of a long dead cosmic extraterrestrial. She's pretty much Power Girl's sidekick and generally, completely lovable and innocent. (For example, to help with her secret identity, she decided to adopt the persona of being an Australian... With a bad fake accent.) Her fate is unknown with the new universe.

The more I keep hearing about the reboot DC has done, the less I'm interested in checking out the titles. How long will DC keep doing this to their fans? From what I keep on hearing, people don't care for it.

Well my dear, it's sort of a mixed bag. While a large number of the books are awful, some of the nu52 books ARE really good. Aquaman has some really fun and adventurous stories, which often comes from his relationship with his wife Mera, who's an awesome character in her own right. Captain Atom can be really innovative in some of it's conceptual executions, really playing with concepts of high speed time and space. Most of the Batbooks have generally been left unblemished, except for Batgirl. (Though Batwoman is starting to lose me.) And Demon Knights is sheer old school bombastic swords and sorcery. And even stuff like Catwoman, which shared a bit in it's controversy early one has come a log way since then. But it really seems that the current DC mandate is that light heated and fun needs to be overlooked, and seriousness and dark is front and centered. There's some gems in there, but you just gotta sort through it all to find them.

And yeah, as I saw someone write today after the latest from WW, better characters like this & Donna Troy not make it into the NU Universe. They deserve better.

So do most of the characters. I bought Wonder Woman today, and I don't believe I'll be buying the eight issue at all. I can't say I'm too thrilled with some of the changes they're making. It's like changes for the sake of changes. I feel like I want to grab DC by their collars and shake them violently, while screaming "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
At least Aquaman's really good.

I couldn't agree more.
It feels very much like, in addition to taking away all the 'fun' elements like longtime relationships, families & friendships, the new policy is grim, dark & depressing with a touch of horror.
I mean, I was optimistically hopeful for JL Dark...but I can't stand what they've done to Zee. The fun, snarky, playful & kind girl I came to love appears to have vanished.
Zee, Huntress (BERTINELLI!!)...now Wonder Woman. Ugh. I'm so close to just giving up.
