Description I stumbled across an old sketchbook from my high school days, where it had a bunch of characters in it that was designed when I was 15 years old. So to give a date to these, we're talking 1990-1994. It's also several years before I got my first computer in 1999. I thought it'd be kinda fun to redraw them, since I've gotten a lot better in the last twenty years. (At least I'd like to think so.) So I picked three of them who seemed the most interesting to draw, since the others were either kinda bland, or I remember nothing about them. These three were major enough recurring characters that I remembered what they were roughly about... And bear in mind I was a high school kid, so it's not like their stories were exactly deep, y'know.

The first guy, the all black dude in green is 'Nightstalker', with no relation to Kolchak. I remember he was my "light hearted" character who was like some dark science avenger, which sounds way cooler than it really was. The girl in the middle is 'Firebat'... Yeeeeeah, I know. Did I mention I was fifteen year old boy? Typical fireflinger, ala the Human Torch or Firestar. Sadly, I look at it now and I start thinking I drew inappropriate fanart of Flame Princess. *sigh*

And the last one is Forever Man, who was an immortal dude, who had a fancy sword called the 'Nosferatu Impaler' which could-

Goddammit, stop laughing, you fuckers! I was fifteen! I thought I was being cool... *sobs*

Anyway, yeah... To no surprise, none of these characters even survived in any modern incarnation of any characters these days. The closest is that their real identities had a couple of similar last names to more recent guys, but beyond that... Not much. The next part has a few characters from the 95-99 years, which we then get into characters that not only survived, but become more important and are still around today.

Gonna go ahead and say it, Forever Man was inspired by Highlander, wasn't he?

Β

Rather prophetic fanart of Flame Princess at that. Or a re-color of DC's Fire. Yeah, the problem with fire-powered characters is that there can't be much variation on their appearance or power.

Actually he wasn't. Sadly, he's... Well...

When we all are that age, we all have characters that are basically the idealized versions of ourselves. And back then, I kinda wanted to be like Peter Steele from Type O Negative. (Which was never going to happen, no matter how much I wished.) And being the 90s... Swords were cool and shit. So yeah...

Like I said... Pretty lame.

Normally not a damn thing... Except that she's like half/totally naked there and Flame Princess is like, you know... Dungeonbait.

Hey, I drew worse in my HS years.Β  Mine where often rip offs of preexisting characters I saw in Wizard that I slightly tweaked to make slightly unique.
