Description

Kronos 1, Deep Space Exploration Vehicle.

This is probably my most ambitious space project so far. I've been working on this spacecraft for quite a while now, several months of all the design work that includes the spacecraft design, interiors, mission structure and goals, functional design of different sections of the vehicle and some other technical details. For now I wanted to present to you a 3d model that took almost a month to make and there are still lots of stuff to do. Anyway, I wanted to tease you a bit and share some of my excitement for this project, full presentation of the Kronos 1 mission coming later this year.

PS - Any resemblance to Hermes spacecraft from The Martian is pretty much coincidental and mostly comes from the research and lots of thinking about realistic long duration crewed space missions. It just means that both me and The Martian crew, did their research on space vehicles

beautifull Spaceship.

What kind of Engine? Nuclear? Or Ion?

it reminds me more of that bbc mockumentary about space.

I love your design! I spent myself, 23 years of research for a sci-fi project. In it I discover the path for a 3rd energetic revolution, which will impact all space vehicles and their designs... Your concept follow the rules of the 2d energetic revolution, which minimized the design to its simplest expression. As cost to bring materials into space is expensive with our current means of space transportation (read inefficiency). Its why in my vision, we'll have to build orbital cities before building space-ships for the long haul. My design answers some unknown variables like space-quakes coming from Earth magnetotail (night time only) and the use of space-elevators in a way never envisioned before. Anyways, I share that with you, because of the fact that you seems interested in space-exploration... And using Kronos as a name for your spaceship is very pertinent Ping me if you're curious!

I recommend you take a look at laserlaunch, lofstrom launch loops and orbital rings, all of which are launch methods more practical than space elevators (at least for Earth). source: www.projectrho.com/public_html…

I would be interested to hear what the functions of the different structures are on this vehicle.  I understand the shield, the solar panels and the rotating crew chambers, but the rest is not obvious to me.  Would you consider posting an edited version of this angle of the model with call-outs, as a follow-up to the Kronos series?

I believe those are radiators, not solar panels. The ship probably uses a nuclear reactor of some sort.

The angle of the POV is good but the cloud cover beneath doesn't help much. Impressive attention to detail all the same.
