Decades after end of steam era, rusty water cranes can still be seen standing in some train depots and stations. It was here in Leopoldov when on 17th October 1980, special train hauled by locomotive 556.036 departed from Bratislava and traveled to the Leopoldov, officially marking end of steam era in Czechoslovakia.

Service life of Class 742 locomotive on the photo also came to an end. Back in November the locomotive was damaged in collision with Class 740 locomotive (number 740.400) in Trnava train station. Depending on the scale of damage, the frame of the locomotive will either be salvaged for use in building of overhauled Class 742.7 or the locomotive will be scrapped altogether.
