In Steven's Life and Death song each word corresponds to a different Gem.
Amethyst is Life. (She was born from Earth and she is the most fun Gem)
Lapis is Death. (She went through a lot of darkness and trauma, and now she found relief.)
Garnet is Love. (Self-explanatory.)
Peridot is Birth. (As in re-birth. She was redeemed and "born" from conformity to individuality.)
Pearl is Peace. (She fought for the planet's peace and enjoys grace and beauty.)
Jasper is War. (She is a brutal warrior and fought in the Gem War.)
And Steven is the Planet Earth.

my idea is that when Peridot sees YD arriving, she start going to her.
Yellow Diamond then shoots at her, becase since Peridot arrived at heart she become defective, learning tasks not required for her "servant" class (this is based on the fact that many people thinks that a type of gems indicates a particular role in the gem society, like Jasper being the "soldier" class and peridot the "servant" class)
