Description Well, this is my first try at a manip.. I know it's completely obvious that it's been messed with, though that wasn't what I initially planned.

This actually took me twice the amount of time it should have because I wasn't bright enough to save Unfortunately I think the first version was better, but maybe it's just because I'm tired of looking at this

* I think I'll be trying to fix the brain sometime soon! I think it looks kind of odd.

I considered putting this under conceptual, but I think it's a bit too weird for that category?
Some lyrics by Freelance Whales which seem slightly fitting:
So Hannah let your roots grow
Let your blue veins show
If I need to take a breath
Then you can take a trumpet solo
I'll work on the limbs if
You work on the torso and
If it gets to be too much
Then you can lend a helping hand

&if you're partial to the night sky
if you're vaguely attracted to rooftops
Hannah takes the stairs
because she can't tell
that it's a winding spiral case
Is she outside in or inside out?
I don't own these lyrics. Here's a link to their video of this song on Youtube: [link]

Ideas change the world if persued. I've felt the need to do so since realizing our fallen bridges. This has been entered into ArtWorldToday 's Inner Self contest: [link]

Please let me know what you think!

These are the stocks I used, thank you all!

This is certainly a very striking image! I love the blue colour and the negative photo-like effect.

I really like your realisation of the concept - the way the roots merge with the grooves of the brain (if I remember rightly, I think they're called sulci?) is great. The only reason I can think of for the slightly odd look of the brain is that it's maybe a bit too flat at the back? Perhaps it should also be slightly smaller, as I think it's a bit too close to the eye.

Anyway, lovely work!

Thank you
I did a little painting to connect the roots with the brain(of which I am terrible at -it took me such a long time to do little details like this). The back of the head/neck I think should have more brain/cerebral stuff? I agree with you there. I think I should look up some anatomy and then get to fixing it.
Thanks again for your kind comment!

I would say not bad at all for a first time manip...even if you messed it up some how
sometimes masterpieces come out of tragedy...great concept and effects.

My elementary art teacher used to only let you use one piece of paper for an assignment as you can always try to salvage what you have before throwing it out.
