Description
Final project for one of my classes~We had to pick a character from an animated film/show, choose eight stills from the film/show, draw a literal interpretation based on each still, and then reinterpret the pose/mood/etc in a second drawing for each still. I chose Shifu from Kung Fu Panda.
My basic idea was to illustrate Shifu's opinion of Po as it changes throughout the movie, from contempt and frustration to finally respect. (The Chinese characters in the last drawing read "respect.")
First column: the actual stills from the movie
Second column (literal interpretation): pen, Copic markers, and watercolor backgrounds
Third column (my reinterpretation): pen, watercolor pencil, and watercolor backgrounds.

Because the Shifu is climbing your windows, snatching your dumplings up, trying to eat them so you better hide your food hide your chops, and hide your soup, 'cause he's snatching everything out there. Oh, and might I add that those Chinese characters just look amazing? Do you know if they're traditional or simplified? Do you know at least a bit of Chinese, or did you copy them from somewhere?

thanks! they're traditional. I do know a little Chinese, but I didn't know those so I had to look them up on the internets ^^'

So when you say you know a little, I'm guessing traditional in terms of writing, and Mandarin in terms of speaking?

I was simply suggesting with the "Ancient" part that Kung Fu Panda is set in Ancient China, not Modern China, so it would make sense that they would use the traditional characters as opposed to the simplified ones, which only came into widespread use during the last century or so. Therefore, by extension, writing "Shifu" using traditional characters and not simplified ones would make more sense as his name would be written using traditional characters in the actual canon.
