Why is everyone I watch suddenly doing fan art of this? Isn't it an old show? Did something happen?

Something DID happen.
One of the characters in the show was unfortunately diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, so people decided to make memes of one of the famous songs on the show, " We are number one ". It would be changed so many ways so It was like a donation to the actor.
On Deviantart, it's sometimes memes or fanart.
Good thing is, the actor is recovering from surgery.
The actor is Stefán Karl Stefánsson (Who played Robbie Rotten)
