Description
btw, I've lightened the image, since I know that it usually shows up much darker on your screens than mine. If you think it was too much/not enough, please let me knowIt wasn't your usual day when you got to bring a new horse to the stable, a rare event during any year.
It definately wasn't your usual day when you lost said horse between the gate and the stable!
"Just what did you think you were doing?" The owner of DIS demanded to know. "Sightseeing?"
"Sorry Mam, I just took my eyes of him for a second, I swear." Jake tried to not tower over his boss so much.
"You bring a new horse, a horse none of us knows anything about, much, and you take your eyes off of him? What do you think you were transporting, a sack of grain?"
"No Mam."
There was a deep sigh as Mae raked her fingers through her snarled hair.
"Never mind now. The important thing is that we find him. You go find Sam...I believe that you can manage that at least...and then we can start looking."
The young man looked a trifle hurt, but decided not to argue about it, sprinting off in the direction of the outbuildings.
"And if you had any idea what happened to the last person to call me 'Mam'..." Mae snarled under her breath as she hurried towards the tackroom.
Coma Illusion on the other hand wasn't the least bit worried. He was enjoying the experience of exploring something new, though he did feel a little bad about running off on the nice young man. Still....

* (1)Name: Cosmic Ilusion
* Breed: Hallucinogen Horse
* Age: 1
* Height: 180cm
* Coat: Bluegreenish tint to base, pale white markings - glowing.
* Discipline: Not yet decided
* Personality: He seems levelheaded for the most time, and prefers being active to just standing about, but has occasional bouts of suddenly acting up, or being spooked by something that he's never had any problem with before. These usually last for less than 30 seconds, then he's back to his usual self - it seems that they mostly occur when he thinks things needs to be livened up, or the world is generally boring, more than to anything else.
As long as you remember that, he's very willing and a pleasure to work with, enjoying working. Levelheaded or not, he doesn't like being mollycoddled and won't always seek the easiest way around a challenge.

I know this one has been a long time coming, and for that I appologise. Seems to have come out of my art block though, so getting myself back into the game. Hope you like how it turned out and that I haven't made too much a mess of his colouring
Thanks again for this wonderful horse

As old as it is, I think it's still one of the best ones I've ever done so I;m so glad that you like it I love glowy stuff, so it's a thrill to know that it came out just right.
Yeah, that foreleg seems to attract a lot of people's eyes. I did change it a bit from the reference so it might not be as natural seeming. Also, I think the water might be distorting it as well...meh.
Mhm....the light/shadows came out very nice...I just hope I can replicate this at some point...light and shadow is a serious weakness of mine for the most part.

light/shadows is my weakness..it is something that I have to work on too.
Yeah i think that it might have to do with the water. But it does not really distract you, so it is perfect the way it is

Aww..glad you like him. He's one of my favourites (and I really need to draw him more often )
He is available for stud if you had a mare in mind?

I'm interested in those little purple lights......the horse is astoundingly well done, although there is something slightly funny-looking about the foreleg that he has extended. It's probably just the glowing factor playing tricks with my eyesight; don't mind me.

Aww...well, I'm glad you like it
ah, those - they were 'supposed' to be some sort of glowy cave flower - not sure what they actually look like
And it's not your eyes, there is something odd about it but I'm not sure what it is either, it sure gave me enough trouble while painting it, I remember that much.
Thanks for the too

You're welcome. The glowy factor distracts from any imperfections, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm so glad you like how he turned out
He's such an amazing horse that I wanted to do him proper justice.
He has those little moments once in a while...makes him seem a bit more alive, somehow. I'm sure Cosmic is going to make a very nice mount for Mae.
Aww
btw - I submitted him to the hallucinogen group, which you probably already noticed. Also, if you could add him as an official foal now that he's finally has a ref, that be brilliant

I saw this in my inbox and was immediately drawn to it. I'm so jealous of your incredible skills with water. Such a lovely atmosphere with all the glowy bits. I'm also in love with the colour palette but I have an unnatural love for all things blue to begin with.
The story is cute too... how does one lose a glowing horse? Hehe. Poor Jake.

aww I enjoy doing water, and as long as I don't try to hard, it seems to turn out ok. grass and green stuff should be kept far away *shudders*
I've seen on DA the kind of glowy caves, often with blue glows or taints to them. Always loved them. Just had to settle for the horse on this one
I honestly don't know - he refuses to tell me. Cosmic had one of those 'ooo look pretty butterfly' moments when taking off, but what Jake was doing at the time, he's being very tightlipped about.

Backgrounds in general...
He really fits into his surroundings. Hehe. I love the pink and purple highlights, they add a certain loveliness. A very nice touch. I love those butterfly/shiny object moments. But the plot thickens! Tickle him until he surrenders the information.

they do like to put up a fight, don't they? Just subdue them with a stick
Thanks I didn't want him lost in some dark, dank cave system underground - rather just wandering around enjoying the beauty of them. Good this DIS has so many to choose from.
Oh yeah, they're great - especially when totally unexpected
Jake's going on probation for this little 'lapse'...but then I'm used to my characters keeping things from me, that's their normal state of mind.

A really big stick...
The more I see of DIS, the more I'd love to vacation there for a bit. Hehe.
My curiosity kills me when they do that... I swear it's the reason I'm half mad.

A flagpole maybe?
I'd love it too. Lacking the ability to go there myself, your characters are more than welcome to pop over whenever they want
Mine too...sometimes I'm really envious of the kind of writers that actually just write their stuff, making it up as they go along This is more like watching a tv series, where half the episodes were aired in chinese and no one bothered with subtitels and the others get scrambled every 5 minutes...

ScribeCat In reply to Maeix2 [2012-02-12 05:31:16 +0000 UTC]
That might do it.
I may have to play with that idea some day soon, maybe after that WIP story is finished. Definitely must harass Sam more. Hehe.
I think I do a little of both... there have been times when the story is just crystal clear and I write the whole thing in a span of a day or two, then other times, not so much. It's been a long time since I finished one chapter and I'm still waiting on how to link it to the next and go on with it. Fickle muse.

Yes, how is that going? Have you had any chance to work on it? I'm really excited to see what you do with that story.
It's good if you can work in several different ways - should mean that there's less snags. Of course, if the muse isn't cooperating, there's no help for it. Has it been stuck like that for long?

I haven't had the chance to go back to it yet. I've been so stressed and busy but at the end of the month I have a week off so it shall definitely be worked on then. I do have all kinds of ideas and it's driving me crazy that I have no time.
I'm on part 15 of 18 which I started back in June... I finished 14 and started 15 all in one day after a huge hiatus so I guess it's just doing the same thing. The last three parts have been like that, I go insane writing and then nothing for a long time. Ah well, I haven't the time right now anyway.

What a beauty. Almost makes me wish I had the talent and the patience to start this game myself - him and say a gem mare would create a lovely mixed breed, or this fellow and a Sky-horse such as my old boy Sirius...that would be an interesting mix. Considering that Sirius and his ilk are essentially non-corporeal and hallucinogens are, traditionally, all of the mind.

Aww, I'm so glad you like it. The athmosphere turned out great, though that was more through pure accident than any concious choice
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way you draw horses (I've seen them) and you're allowed to use photos as background, so if you really like the idea, then go for it. It's a fun way of keeping your hands in it, so to speak.
A gem horse and a hallucinogen cross would make an AWESOME horsie

It's a great idea for a breed and your boyo there has a lovely look to him.
I really wouldn't get that heavily into it...but I'll think about it. Even if I ended up with five stallions that were available to stud and nothing else...it's a thought.

I forgot about it to be honest. I had a bad patch at the beginning of last year, not long after I started, spent too much money on the thing, then had an even worse patch and lost interest in everything. Don't even know if I still have all my horses or anything.

They're still all there - but I know that accounts get deleted after certain amount of inactivity so it might just be because the computer hasn't gotten around to it yet. Just log in, take care of one horse and log out again and you can decide later if you still like it.
No need to spend any money on it - usually you can get hold of most things witha little patience.

Yay. Did you look after 1 horse as well? That's what's needed for the computer to reset the 'clock' on the account - sorry if I'm being repetetive, I just don't want you to loose the account because of some computer rather than your own decision. I was going to offer you the same thing - though we seem to have very different types of horses.
They've brought in quite a few nifty changes since you were last on I think.

Well, I've got Fresians...you've got Arabs. I was working on a dressage stables, trying to breed in as many high stats as I can to get the best horse. I also like my Paints though.

Maeix2 In reply to Dreams-of-Skies [2012-02-10 22:34:58 +0000 UTC]
Arabs and a nice little crossbreeding project on the side.
It's impossible to compete with the top breeding groups when it comes to purebreds (at least without spending more time and money than that's good for anyone), so if you're focusing on a dressage stable, I'd suggest going into crossbreeds. It's certainly less straightforward, that's for sure.
There's been a whole host of new breeds out since last...and a whole section for western, which I think might actually suit you quite nicely.

If I was going into Paints, Western would be great. I might do. I have a couple very good Paints. But I also love my Fresians....so damn difficult!

You can set the classic/western discipline for individual horses...so quite possible to do both.
Friesians are gorgeous, though gamewise it's hard to tell the difference when they all look alike
It's great for playing just for fun...take it too serious and it ends up being a chore. Not good.
