Description
Taking just a teeny tiny bit more time than those 'simple' drawings I've been putting out lately Wanted to do a traditional style black horse. Didn't work out quite the way I intended, but I like the end result even so

Very lovely! You have such amazing backgrounds, and horses, and color combinations. ^^ They always evoke emotion.

Aww, thankies I hope that I get back into the groove soon. I haven't done anything like this in a long while now.

Thanks I've certainly put in enough hours...so glad some improvement is visible *purrs contently at the praise*
Right now I'm trying to work on my speed and without references, so apologies for the drop in general art quality for the near future. I'm looking forward to when I can do something like this in half the time

I totally understand that
Speed is difficult, and for a while I was doing nothing but speed paintings, but now I am focusing in on detail. I kinda go back and forth, but the speed painting was really good to figure out blocking and general composition. As far as going without references... that... is tough. Best of luck to you, I'll be watching

I've gotten quicker over the years, but no-where near where I'd want to be...so I figured, a bout of speedy art and then go back to the more proper forms and see how much it'll have improved. Even if it's only a little, I can already tell that it will have helped. If nothing else, I'm having more of a chance to play with my brush-settings
You're definitely right about that...it's great for learning about the lighting as well...without worrying about messing up the finishing touches on a piece that has taken hours and hours. I think moving between the different states is a good thing. Always learning...and either of them doesn't get the chance to become boring.
Yeah...some more tricky poses I've caved in on already...but it's quite liberating...as long as I don't mind the art looking like it was made by me ten years ago Thanks. I'm sure it will prove worthwhile. Just need to make sure I don't pull out any hair before then

I've been watching tutorials like crazy lately... I think I kinda thrive off of learning.
Keep up the good work though

You and me both. I will never stop learning...in any area of life. I'm too fond of expanding my horizons for that
Thanks. Will try Certainly looking forward to when I sit down with a proper piece next time and see what the result of this practice have been.

That background is insanely epic; the horse fits in so well... Beautiful work!

Thanks, I'm really glad you like it. One day I'll be able to do something seriously epic, coming out of the screen, epic, but looks like this was a good step in the right direction. Thanks for the too.

Aww, thankies, I'm glad it looks enchanting...or mystical...or fantastical for that matter I had such a fight with those mountains you wouldn't believe it... I'm getting better at bringing 'athmosphere' into play...now to practice on the whole 'light is actually coming from a sensible direction' bit
