Finally, an updated version of my Gangrel vampire character, Magelet. I haven't drawn her in like, forever. So I thought I'd put my newly acquired colored-pencil skills to work and see if I can draw an updated version of her. I hope I fixed her legs and torso enough, for all of those who helped me and critiqued my sketch. I think it looks much better now.

I have to say, first off, that there were a lot of little details I missed in the thumbnail, so I'm glad I had a closer look at the picture. It's really well colored and textured, and everything about that feels really organic. Although the pose dosn't feel like it's in motion, (perhaps because her torso's in a more vertical position?) I'm not really sure of yur intent with the pose, but despite this, I can find quite a few things I like about it. Oh and btw the colored pencil stuff really shows well.

Eh, I really wasn't going for too much motion really. My whole intent on this picture was to have an updated version of my character drawn for references, but not having her standing in some boring, stiff plain standing pose. Thanks for looking and stopping by!

Wow, I can see why she means so much to you. The character design is so snazzy! Her pose suggests a real kick-your-ass attitude and the wings suggest a bittersweet touch of outlawed elegance. I'll certainly think about the sculptural immortalization.

At the risk of sounding too crude, the bottom soles of the shoes look a bit awkward. The right leg's sole looks a bit like blades, or is it supposed ter be like that?

Well, this actually is an older piece, so I'm not sure the skills are new any longer, lol. I didn't even know I could color by hand with pencils, so I was rather surprised when I started this piece.
No reason for you to sound 'crude'... proper critiques are the guide to how i 'got this good', along with lots and lots of practice. The soles of the boots are supposed to have a concave shape to them... they kinda bow in towards the middle. It was more design decoration than anything, but I do see how they look rather odd.

I realize after I finished this piece that the feathers aren't anatomically correct to what real avian feathers are like, but ?I love my character too much to complain.

I've been using this character for years now, and I adore her so much I have a whole collection of 120+ images of her I've collected from other artists! Is it weird to love your on character so much??! XD
I use Prismacolor pencils with all my art nowadays!
They blend beautifully!

Wow, that's AWESOME, Magelet. You fixed up that back leg perfectly, and as usual, your coloring and shading has me blown back against the wall. Perfect work on those wings, too ... as well as the drape and tension of the fabric in her tank top. Overall it's just one damned good piece of work, dear. Bravo.
