Description This was made for the AC Trick or Treat Contest for the fake pumpkin category.

This all started because I needed to test my arm and see what it could take - if I could embroider yet or if it hurt too much after my arm injury. I'd been joking around for a while that I'd make one of the cookies from the Cookie Clicker game I play (thanks to `NicBelroque yeah I blame you ) The latest update of the game has Halloween themed cookies and one of them is a pumpkin. I decided to do that one as, if it worked out and I was able to finish it on time I could then also enter it for the AC Trick or Treat Contest for the fake pumpkin category.

I made this on a scrap of even weave that I had left over from the fruit sewing kit I'd made. It took quite a bit of effort to manage to do this as my arm and had really didn't like me doing this all that much but as it wasn't really painful I decided it would be ok to keep going as I'd been told that was ok as long as it didn't hurt.

The embroidery took me about 5 hours to do - about 4 times longer than I'm used to for such a small piece. Once it was done I needed to do something with it as a tiny embroidery all on it's own wasn't going to cut it. I remembered that I also had a couple of bits of thick cardboard from making the fruit sewing kit so i grabbed them and cut one strip into 2 squares of 2 1/2 inches and the other into 4 strips of 2 1/2 x 1 1/4. I dug around the bits of fabric I had handy and found a pumpkin fabric and a autumn leafy print.

I first sewed the pumpkin embroidery to the square that would make the lid then I fixed the outer fabric to the cardboard by doing a herring bone stitch to pull the edges around the card, next I folded over the seam allowance of the pumpkin fabric and sewed that down with smallish stitches. Once all the pieces were made I sewed them together with a whip stitch. I added a little orange leaf bead to the lid as a way to open and close it.

Stats:
Size of embroidery: 1 1/4"
Colours used: 7
Number of stitches: 239
Size box: 2 3/4" wideΒ  x 2 3/4" deep x 1 1/2" high

Please note that these photo's are replacing the original photo's taken in artificial light that I have put in my scraps for referenceΒ

This is really cute!!

I actually sell some fabrics I've designed on my spoonflower...I'd love to see some of them turned into cute little boxes like this if you ever get one ^^

Thanks

Hmm.. I'm going to go on the basis that you don't realise how that comes across as but... I'll explain in the hopes of helping you in the future as I'm sure you'd prefer to make a good impression when advertising your wares

If you say "I actually sell some fabrics I've designed on my spoonflower...I'd love to see some of them turned into cute little boxes like this" then normally that would mean that you are about to offer some of said fabrics as part of a commission to make the boxes rather than you hoping that the person will go buy your fabrics and make the boxes. If you aren't saying that as part of an offer then you shouldn't advertise your wares in a comment on someone else's deviation - it's not really very polite (and some people might report you for it)

I've seen lots of things made from my fabric designs (from bow-ties to undies, with or without my permission XD) but I love seeing them!~

I've never thought of a box being made from fabric like this, so I was just saying I would love to see some of my fabrics turned into little boxes (by you, me, or anyone really!)

No bad impression intended~
Anyway, have a great day ^_^

See this as a learning moment: A bit of self censorship never goes amiss at times like that - it does come across as advertising and I for one do not like people advertising their stuff on my deviations, you have your own deviations for that

Just goes to show that you don't have to type what you think all the time

You too

seems appropriate to quote this poem by Makala Shay, especially as i am currently dressed as a phantom for all the trick-or-treaters

Darkness falls across the sky,
as all the bats begin to fly.

Mist starts to fill the air,
eerie noises everywhere.

Shadows dance across the trees,
of things that you can not see.

Darkness falls across the sky,
as all the bats begin to fly.

Mist starts to fill the air,
eerie noises everywhere.

Shadows dance across the trees,
of things that you can not see.

The feeling of an evil power,
beware, its now the witching hour.

Spirits begin to hang around,

the sound of foot steps on the ground.

The full moon giving a frightful glow,

dark clouds, the wind begins to blow.

Silhouettes of things unknown,

will chill you, right to the bone.

Branches scraping against the door,
the sound of chains dragging the floor.

Howling from far and near,

the witching hour is surely here.

Stiffened with fright, you will stay,

until it slowly drifts away.
