But when they arrived they saw cities destroyed by someone or something and when they find Pidge's father along with his mother in an underground base called "Monarch" and there they explain what happened to the land.

Samuel Holt: No, it was not the Galra, comparing them with those monsters, they make the Galra look like good beings.
Keith: Then who did this !?
Samuel Holt: This world was never from humans, it was always theirs and they are claiming it. Those who attacked us were them.
