Description
This is my first time shading so much on a face. It doesn’t look as good as I expected. I have tried to make the face less dirty but it is still messy. =”=Maybe I shouldn’t use tissue to smudge it as I don’t know how to deal with it.
I used the same method to draw Aoi, which was a bit better than this one. But I don't think I will do so much shading on faces again.- -

I love this picture a lot! I will have to say that the mouth could be slightly bigger and perhaps tilted to the left a tiny bit. Unless the original was like that? Maybe the shading is slightly too dark under his eyes too? Other than that, this piece is amazingly done! I love the hair and the Expression of the piece! It must have taken a while to do Asagi! I love him....

To me the shading looks fine, actually. It is a bit darker in some areas than it probably should be, but it doesn't really draw away from it. I usually use fabrics or my fingers to smudge pencil, but the effect you produced with tissue is much softer... maybe I'll try it.

I think both blond and black hair are difficult to draw.They often look like getting wet.It is really hard to deal with it.So I hope I can draw smoother hair.^_^

I think darker hair is easier for me 'cause I can shade all I want (which is a lot because I press hard with the pencil all the time!). I know! It does look that way. I think that you've done a really good job, though!

if you want to shade but don't want to use tissues or something, you could try cotton sticks( y'know, those things you clean your ears with...) to smudge places that are a bit too small for tissue/finger....
...you might want to practise first on a sketch though....X3

The hair is* very good, there is a very slight proportion problem with the mouth area but all in all is very good

Since I didn't learn darwing portrait at art school,I usually find some bright photos as reference.But I will try to shade a bit more on faces.^__^

oh, so you were going to art school! no wonder your drawings are so pretty ^^ I think it's just a matter of practice. Though I wouldn't recommend using tissues, just a very hard pecil to do the brightest parts

Yes,but I quitted after one and a half years.
Smudging with tissue makes the drawing very smooth,but sometimes the feeling of "drawing" is lost.So I think I will use my original method to draw,just smudge a little bit when needed.

I don't think it looks messy at all. In fact, it's much more realistic. Most people don't shade enough and end up with a wishy-washy look.

You are right.I didn't shade too much on my previous drawings.They looked very clean but I always think that something is missing.Then I know I have to do better shading.^_^
