Zomg.. this took me for friggen ever.I've been trying to keep track of how much time I put into this. I kinda lost track but that was after 26 hours.
and I was only halfway done with this. So yes anyway, this started out as a simple sketch on regular paper.
I wanted to add color but of course at the time I didn't have colored pencils or paint brushes at the time. So I worked on it digitally. I've never tried a coloring job this extensive before. I mean I've done color "touchup" I've taken pieces that were already colored and basically blended and shaded to make the colors seem more bold.
With this the original was black and white so I basically bolded the lines and did 100% of the coloring digitally.
IT WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS!... but I like the way it turned out.

well if you look really close at each one of those scales i did seperate shading for each one and everything else in the image Lol.
the pixels made my eyes bleed!!

A lot of my work in inspired by tattoo flash. I like to take tattoo designs and add my own little twist to them. Some designs are so unoriginal and bland i like to spice them up and add a nice quirk here and there

I like the eye, and the super long whiskers and... and the fact that the body looks like a dragon! SWEET! That's so awesome!
Did you know that the Japanese believe that when a koi reaches 100 years of age it turns into a dragon?

I like Koi's but i thought i'd put a twist on this one by making the body curved like a chinese dragon

I was kinda worried about the flowers mostly because i used a LOT of reds..
hmmm.. I'm thinking about painting the original with acrylics..
we'll see how that turns out.. i'll probly use different colors in the flowers.
