I am after all, what you made me

The N7 program started in february of 2175 A hundred soldiers, men and women, arrived to Rio de Janeiro, to the The Interplanetary Combatives Academy, known popularly as "The Villa", to join the program which was supposed to last sixteen months.

Shepard arrived with the first group of selected soldiers. He had two days to get used to the life in The Villa and met his companions before start the training.

There was one girl in particular that caught his eyes almost instantly. Strong and vigorous, but petite. Black hair at shoulders lenght, a beautiful smile with natural red lips, freckles and blue eyes glowing with enthusiasm. When the training started, she was in Shepard's unit, with another twenty five soldiers. Incapable of speaking to her, Shepard waited to the officer in charge took attendance to know her name, and after that, he never forgot. Leiutenant Jane Parker.

But Shepard didn't have much time to think about her. The training was brutal and every night, he was so exhausted he could only think how confortable was his hard and cold bed in the camp.
They trained almost twenty hours per day in extreme conditions, in hostile terrain simulations. Usualy they were divided in small teams, but Shepard and Jane never coincided.

Eighty soldiers earned the N2 rank after the first months of training. The recruits were sent to Pinnacle Station, in the Phoenix System to continue the training. Shepard's unit started with lessons of frontline trauma care for human and alien biology. Until his first training session, Shepard hadn't realized Jane was again in his unit.

Eventually, they met in the practices and became close companions. Not friends, but close enough to talk to each other out of the training sessions or eat together, even if there was little time. Shepard knew the rules in the Alliance about fraternization, but he never was the type or person who followed the rules by the book.

Jane made him feel the man he wanted to be. The honorable soldier who always fulfill his duty. And he started to like the person he became when they shared time, even if it was short. Shepard didn't remember he could smile so much.

Jessica, the girl he dated when he was in Finch's gang was another story. She had always feeded the worst of him, the violence, the hate and anger. With Jane in scene, Shepard could understand that what he had with Jessica wasn't love. It wasn't even friendship.

Soon after, both of them were promoted to the N3 rank along with seventy four soldiers and embarqued to their next destination: Ontarom in the Kepler Verge.
