Warning: May feature a terrible title and historical inaccuracies.Well here we are, the first comic of the year! After a couple of years of doing these comics I've finally done something more historical based, which you should hopefully find fun. Some people I've spoken to weren't aware what countries the Vikings were from, nor what ones went where. (My housemate hilariously informed me that they'd invaded us (UK) in the 1800's. Rest assured I corrected her on the matter.)
It's rather fun drawing something which has more of a connection to my own nation's history as well (and hey look who I snuck in as a result). I was going to give England a nice blue sky, but the weather here has been terrible everyday that I've worked on this comic, so my British bitterness snuck into the comic. Apologies. 8I
Anyway, don't ask bears for help, and don't bribe Norse Gods, they know their stuff. Now go enjoy little Nordics, I'm sure they'll be back again.

Ha ha, this is great! I've spent a lot of time trying to compensate for the not-so-great education in history I received during middle-and high school (in short, I've read quite a bit of Nordic history) and this is more than accurate enough for me, keep it up! (please?)

XD Awww you're too kind to me. My comics actually take a lot of time to produce, the ideas aren't instant for the most part. I spend about a week or two usually running through different scenarios until panels start to form in my head and eventually a script appears. As for how the ideas happen... I take a lot of inspiration from snippets in my own life, as well as general research and also watching deviants from the Nordic countries interact on here. XD There's a lot of ideas to be found by doing so!

Thank you very much! I think my chum answered a lot of your questions, but I'll still explain my part. XD
In short when I was doing some research I tried to find who made contact with the UK first, be it Scotland, Ireland, Wales or England. (I drew England because I can. XD). A few sources pointed to the Norwegians being the first to make contact with them, however at that time they didn't carry out raids or anything of the sort, so it's not exactly raved about like the more popular adventures. That came many years later when they returned with the Danes in tow. There's a good chance of flaws occurring with this age since the sources aren't always that concise, but hey, let's pretend it was Nor. He was a great Viking after all.

Besides, we now so little about what actually went down back then that it would be pointless to claim that either of us were perfectly right 'cause we simply can't know xD And regardless of the accuracy, the comic was awesome and funny xD

No, Norway was not at all under Danish rule before the Kalmar union, which took place long after the end of the viking era. And as far as I could manage to find out, Regnar means "To reign" which would mean that a Regnar was a person that ruled? I need help with this I never heard about this before XD
I don't think that Lindisfarne was the first ever raid by vikings, but maybe the most flashy one? I mean the monks decided to write super cryptic shit like "there was lightning in the sea and dragons in the air" so who the hell knows? The Irish ones were at least to the point when Norwegian vikings came. A simple "norse heathens attacked and stole treasure". Silly English XD

Norwegian vikings were known to raid in Scotland, where Danes (as far as I know I may be wrong) never really went. So maybe this suggests that it was in fact Norwegian vikings who decided Lindisfarne and it's precious monks needed a little visit?
Viking history is very confusing! And Norwegian history is really confusing too, but we were never under Danish rule until our own royal line was killed off by the plague (1349). In fact, the first union we had was with the Swedes because the heir to our throne (a cousin of the main line) was also heir to the Swedish throne, thus making him the king of both Sweden and Norway for a short time before the Kalmar union.
After the Swedes decided to go off on their own, the Danes then decided Norway was not to be their own country, but a "province" of Denmark, so in the 1600s, they removed the country status, this making all our colonies theirs. (dick move, but whatever XD)

Regnar is the name of a man who, supposedly, managed to sail the open sea and go west for the first time in Viking history (England). I'm pretty sure he was Danish.
As for the Danes ruling Norway, I didn't think of it as actual Danes ruling the country Norway. As far as I know, Denmark and Norway weren't really countries back then so Denmark didn't rule over Norway in the modern way as we know it. The lines between Danish and Norwegian was just blurred. Something like that xD
