Yeaaah, we've got those oral exams and we're supposed to write some sort of essay on a chosen subject and then present it to the comittee. We don't have to memorize it all, but I'm way too scared of forgetting anything, lol. GOOD GRADES, ME WANTS THEM.

I know what you mean. I used to stay up so late it was actually already "early" when I finished, but not anymore! For I, a biology/chemistry class (I'm not even sure how to translate that anymore, gawd) graduate, have finally realized it was not only tiring, but also less effective than studying when you're not falling asleep. Took three years to get it, though. =____=;
Hope you do get some sleep. And I'm not saying that only because sleeping is my favourite activity, but it really is important. ;D

OMG yes. Someone agrees his latest stuff was rushed. I like the ballads too but all the faster stuff are basically AUTOTUNEEEE. I couldn't stand it. I mean after a few lessons I stopped caring and learned to just "go with it"...but why Jay why do you have to use autotune?? I mean seriously. It's like making it OBVIOUS he wants to go mainstream. Angers me every time. Capricorn was a nightmare...and On the Run was alright. I liked maybe a good half?? Minus the cowboy theme. Lmao.

Not just autotune. He was playing with another dialect too. That I don't mind, its pretty cool listening to him talking in... Actually I have no idea which dialect he is speaking in but I know it ain't no cantonese. I'm epic phail. Hahaha.
But yea, It's like from cowboy to capricorn to the era, he's almost as if trying out different techniques? Experimenting even. Like he's throwing them out to see hows our(the fans) reception to it and then once he figures everything out, fine tune all of it, then BAM! We get another round of awesome stuff.
The songs he created for secret was good. Mostly instrumental here and there but the main one was not bad. And like you said, on the run was not bad. It's like 50/50 of the album for me. But hey, he always delivers anyways. If it wasn't for all the current promotion events on the movies, endorsement and idk misc stuff he's doing. I'm sure with enough time, he'll pour it all back to music again

He was speaking in Taiwanese. I ALSO had that same moment. It sounded almost cantonese but then it suddenly changed and it sounded like some alien talk. I'm like...almoooost understood you there. lMAO.
The prob is his experimenting doesn't seem to turn out that well. LOL. He's one of those guys that seem to do well if he stayed doing "the same" boring shit. BUT it's good for artists to try new things so it's a must. Either way, he's exploring his roots.

I didn't even finish Grade 3 of piano. As in playing. Though I did finish grade 5 of the book, but its pretty useless if my playing was still that far behind. Did I ever tell ya that I fell asleep playing once? Lol the music score was the kind that both hands play separately and one you reach the middle of the entire thing, you only then play with both hands. I totally just K.Oed there and my teacher hit my hand T__________T stopped 3 weeks later not cause of her. But I guess I can appreciate music but not play it. Heh.

I'm actually looking through behance and random design groups for design refs. Got my work rejected by my lecturer again so I need to find something that's more of their taste since they kept saying that my style isn't working for them :/

It sucks balls on your end when you got to start working FOR them instead of working with what you want. That's how the stupid world works. It's like satisfying the "big" companies instead of going off on our own. It's saddening but reality. YOU CAN DO IT. Stay strong.

An old primary school friend of mine played it for me and my friends. Took him about 3 weeks to get it down, but it was still shaky at parts. Lol he kept praising Jay and complaining about how much his hand cramped. Now that is dedication.
*shrugs* I mean it still affects me that the lecturers are aiming so much into the mainstream commercial design thing. You know where everyone must frigging include advertising and marketing schemes into design. But after awhile, I just want to shove it down their throats. Give them what they want and make them just shut up so I can get out of the place already. Lol we're all just aiming to pass, get the certs and figure out whether university is the next best choice or should all of us grads just go work.

Thanks the thing about life. People get popular and it's always 'cause of the mainstream ideas. OR someone gets popular and then starts "turning mainstream" 'cause it's just how it is. IT'S SO SAD and some may say...it's inevitable. There's only so much "different" shit you can think up. You think of one thing, someone already thought of it. It's so hard to have originality don't you think?
But BAH your lecturers. Despite how they want you to do this and this and THIS for them, you battle it and DO IT. Then when they ain't looking, you go enjoy your own "wants". There's always a double life in our careers. We'll follow the rules when we're awake...and dream our own artwork when we're asleep. ;] Keep on trucking. Hehe.

*nods nods* So true hun. So effing true. Gah. Often I know it isn't good to look at things through rose tinted glasses, no pun intended. But honestly I wonder whether is it wrong to want to do things, just cause you like it and it makes you feel happy.
Sure most people would say yes, but you get assholes who turn the tables around and shoot you with the all knowing question "Well do you need money? And that to put food on the table and take care of yourself?" Then I feel a part of my creativity die away and that it almost makes the design field sound like some disgusting low level shit. No joke.
And its harder when everyone subliminally hints that the course/design we make are not going to put us far since there are all those others, like you said, done it before and we're no different. Or that they never approved of it in the first place.
I won't lie to you, I did thought majority of my friends supported what I do, but I know that they believe I won't go that far with it. I don't know why but it's just that feeling and that look they give that makes it as if eventually I'll pull out of all of this, smack myself awake to the reality that it won't do me good as compared to all the other fields.
