Description
"I want to be stronger!"
- Tokio Kuryuu
Here is a KH MMD edit of Tokio Kuryuu, the main character from the PSP game .HACK//LINK . This game never received an English localisation, there is an English patch made by fans. I haven't played .HACK//LINK yet.
He appears in the PS3 game .HACK//Versus again but his appearance drastically changes. He uses the alias 'IX' or 'Nine' and also wears a hoodie with the hood up throughout all of Versus to hide his face and identity.
Honestly my initial thoughts of Tokio from .HACK//LINK was that he looked like a digimon character (which is not surprising because its published by Bandai Namco). But by the time he appears again in .HACK//Versus (which takes place several years after the ending to .HACK//LINK) he has matured heaps in terms of personality and skill.
Initially in .HACK//LINK he was a twin blade class; but by the time he appears in .HACK//Versus, he switched classes and becomes a ?Tribal Grappler? (i.e. Final Fantasy equivalent of Monk class) as he no longer wields his twin blades (modelled after the long and short hands of time).
In .HACK//Versus, his gauntlets have the unique ability to partially control time as a skill trigger as he is able to slow down time to deal a flurry of blows on his opponents.
not for public sharing.

I think SAO has its pros and cons too.
I do agree that .HACK// came first but I think many SAO fans would disagree.
Either way I reckon it would be cool if the characters officially cameo'd in each other's universe and became allies.
But as it stands SAO is undoubtedly more popular as it has more games, anime, novels....etc.
.HACK// was what first introduced me to the "online RPG as a plot" genre, on the other hand the games and media from this series has become noticeably less over the years. In part because all Cyberconnect2 is working on these days are Naruto games leaving them no time to create new entries in the .HACK// universe.

Honestly it would be because if nothing else I can at least admit the character designs of SAO are pretty good and one fun stable of crossover games/franchises I love is just having the main characters switch outfits. It's purely aesthetic but it'll make them money if they sell the images as limited posters or something. That being said popular does not always mean better. Power scaling and plot flow went much better in the .hack series imo.Β
It does make me sad that a lot of anime or games that were the first to do something in their genre just came out too earlier and then people can't use common sense to see when certain things were made to figure out that was the thing that started it. One example besides .hack is Elfen Lied for being 'another edgy and gore' anime, even tho it was one of the earlier ones to do so.Β Β
Also yeah I don't understand why there's so many naruto games...Β

Same!!
It feels like the .HACK series is dead.
No new games, no new anime, no new books, no new manga.
Nothing.
