Description
Ambulocetus natans from the Early Eocene of Pakistan was traditionally portrayed as a crocodile-like ambush hunter which snatched helpless prey animals from the shore. But since recent studies have shown that the famous “Walking Whale” was in fact a heavily aquatic creature that was more at home in shallow waters than on dry land, I sought to give it an otter-like style of hunting, being in active pursuit of large fish. And because it certainly looks more like a giant, monstrous otter to me than a mammalian crocodile as it was traditionally perceived, I sought to call it “The Otter from Hell” just for fun, even though it’s actually a primitive whale.Related content
