Earth-8's superheroes live by one rule; "With great power comes great responsibility." For years, heroes defended their cities from various criminal threats largely independent of one another, then came a day unlike any other, when the world's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common foe. On that day, the Retaliators were born, dedicated to stand together against threats no one hero could face alone.

Hornet: Supermodel Eliza Mardon was given a powerful gift with her father's dying breath. The scientist bequethed to her a suit of armor that could give a human the power to shrink to the size of an insect, as well as give them superhuman strength and the ability to fly. Determined to get justice for her father's murder, Eliza donned the suit and became the mighty mite Hornet.

Wolven: A recluse from the frozen north, Wolven cannot remember anything before waking up in a strange lab. Driven by an innate desire to be free, the werewolf-like creature broke out and fled into the wild. To this day, he is unable to know if he was a human turned into a monster or an animal forcibly evolved to be more like a man.

Bug: Ben was a research assistant at a genetics firm run by his best friend's father. One day, an armed mercenary group broke in and attempted to steal the group's secrets. Ben attempted to buy time for the police to arrive, and was tossed into a display case housing samples of synthetic insect DNA. Doused in the chemicals, Ben's body mutated! He grew fangs and a second set of arms and found himself with all the greatest powers of the insect kingdom! He is now as strong as a Hercules beetle, as fast as a dragonfly, with reflexes like a praying mantis, the poisonous stingers of a scorpion, the leaping power of a flea and the ability to walk up a wall and hang from the ceiling like a spider. The youngest member of the team, Bug is still trying to find his place among them.

Monster: A most unusual case in that Monster doesn't really exist. A little girl named Jenny lived in a dangerous neighborhood, and wished for someone big and strong who could scare all the bad guys away. So did Monster come into existence... as a little girl's imaginary friend. They share an unusual gift allowing Jenny to summon Monster into the real world while she hides in the realm of the subconcious until monster is no longer needed.

Soldier: Leader of the team, Kevin Stephans is a genetically enhanced former marine who now puts his enhanced strength, speed, agility and reflexes to work stopping costumed villains and would-be world conquerors. The other Retaliators look up to and respect Soldier, and he inspires them to be the best they can be.

Viking: The half-human son of the frost giants of the extradimensional plane Jotunheim, Viking is a towering powerhouse with command over ice and snow. The axe he carries is made of enchanted black ice that will never melt, a gift from is father on his 16th birthday.

Skyscraper: A brilliant scientist named Steve Richards had discovered a growth formula he believed would help to feed the world's hungry. When the government attempted to steal his work for the military, Steve DRANK his creation to keep it away from them... and grew into a GIANT! Now, Steve acts as the scientific mind of his new team, as well as joining them in battle with his ability to change size and grow into a 30-story tower of power!
