Description
another paintsketchy thing.i have zero original ideas these days, but i still really want to be painting. hence the recurring subject matter. among other reasons..
mr. reznor, your hair in this photo frustrated me.
last night's can be seen here: [link]
and a newer one here: [link]
ref photo is all over the damn place. google = your friend.
there will likely be more of these in the near future, unless i stop intentionally trying to not think about things, or something really big happens around here to distract me.

that guy is spooky
good music though
This is, for sure, a good painting of him. I knew who it was from the thumbnail before I even clicked to open it. I like how his hair is totally dark except for right on top where it's got some dark gray. You pretty much nailed all of the shading.

thanks
does his hair really look that dark? i ask because i'm worried i need to adjust my monitor - on my end it's actually got quite a bit of mid-grays throughout. Laptop monitors are dishonest...
thanks again for taking a look

well it looks right to me... it does have gray throughout, for the most part, but towards the bottom, where his eyes and ears are, it is mostly black. (the bottom inch or so of his hair) So I guess that's why I said it was on top
and you are welcome!

thanks my favorite part of any painting is when i start adding in the darkest lows - i love how it suddenly makes everything stand out. i like to hold off until the very end of a piece to put in the blacks, just for the satisfaction of it
i was a little frustrated with this picture though, in the ref photo there isn't a lot of contrast in his face ; ; im looking for another photo with nice contrasty-ness to paint later today
