Wonderful pencil stuff. I love pencil stuff they more authoritative than digital arts.

Well it's actually a pen sketch, though it did scan weakly. Basically the same though. No planning out, just flying without a net. Drawing from photos and life is as fun as it is challenging.

I always found that movie to be slow and depressing. But that was probably the point. Glad you like the drawing. I always love seeing drawings of elephants. God made them for drawing.

Wow, quite a departure. Nice textural type stuff, especially the trunk. Kinda looks like he gonna fall over, but otherwise very nice.

oh god, this rocks. Looks realistuc as hell even if it's just drawn with stroke-lines... but damn, what detail and tonal effect you've got! I like.

You could make an exact colour block render of this from your sketches. Damn. That looks good. when I look from back a bit, the crosshatching looks like solid colours of grey. Kick arse there.

This was a much sloppier drawing than I normally do, at least in terms of mark making. I was working in tones rather than lines, so the line making wasn't significant in this one. That's probably why the tonal quality stands out more in this one. It looks really sketchy in real life. But then again, sketchy texture works well with elephant skin, so it turned out OK after all.

Hot damn Deric, what a jolly ol' Jumbo. Nice line work and Deric-craziness. I give hime a bag of peanuts.

Damn that's a sly reference...so sly I had to do a google search just to figure out what in the world you were talking about. Google helped me know what you meant, and knowing is half the battle.

Wow... this is awesome! I could only dream of drawing elephants this well, even if they are my second-favorite animal. I love the job you did with the veins in the ears... and the eye, gotta love the eye... all of the wrinkles in the trunk. Buh-huh. I'd never have the patience to do that sort of thing. The only thing I'm skeptical on is the elephant's left side, I mean the stomach, ya know... seems to fat. But other than that, this is an over-all beautiful job.

I thought it looked fat too, but I kept the proportions exactly with the photo I was using. It looked kinda weird there too, although there was a baby elephant to the right balancing the image out. I can't say if the momma elephant was leaning on the baby or just lumbering in step, but that's how it turned out. This drawing is really quite sloppy and leisurely done, but it's big enough that when shrunk down it looks more impressive. The only tricky thing was picking out and preserving the highlights, and not over-working the stuff further in the distance like the legs. Thanks for the nice comment!

I enjoyed doing it. I've almost never drawn real life animals before, except this series of monkeys I did for class. Elephants are particularly fun because they have so much texture and form to play with. I'm glad you like it!
