"The atmosphere of hexing rooms felt suffocating, as if the air itself could strangle students in the midst of a curse. Black and red candles lit the hexagon-shaped rooms, and the walls were lined with books detailing everything from ancient curses to reflecting hexes.

The objects in the hexing building were cursed, and the classrooms were no exception. Chairs moved when a student tried sitting in them, books screamed when opened, and papers and quills floated away when attention wasn’t on them. The long table rattled, and the building itself groaned. Despite there being no airflow in the building, the chandelier rocked back and forth, casting eerie shadows.

The high-backed chairs were stiff and uncomfortable to sit in, though their tendency to kick the backs of students’ legs distracted from that. Focusing in the hexing classrooms was difficult, and even the windows didn’t seem to look out anywhere… but instead were boarded up."
