Description
The night came, and brought along a bitter rain. The droplets drummed a house, and this sound would normally put Richard at ease, but tonight it only seemed to drown him in angry sorrow. Richard hated pity, and he was angry at the fact that he pitied himself. It was never something he could take from others or himself, it made him feel weak, and that was something he wasn't. Red rested Richard's head on his lap, he watched the young man and felt bad for him. "In a million years I would never think that he could do something like that." Richard whispered. He closed his eyes; he wanted sleep. He wanted to just forget this whole thing for a night, but everything came flooding back to him. Red didn't say anything however, he just sat there and stroked Richard's dark hair. Even though he didn't think it helped him, that's all he could give Richard."That's why I have to leave." Richard stated from out of the blue. Red, even though heartbroken by the news, just nodded his head. He didn't like seeing Richard like this, and didn't want to anger him by being selfish. "Just make sure you send postcards." Red replied attempting to make the somber mood lighter. Richard laughed at the comment, "I'll get right on that, and make sure you don't steal anything too extreme." The thief smiled, and lightly caressed his finger tips over Richard's face. "Deal."
xXx
The two spent the night on the couch, although when Red woke up he found himself in his bedroom. Confused he got out of the bed, and exited the room. He made his way into the living room, but saw Richard wasn't there. Frowning he walked briskly into the kitchen. He discovered that Richard wasn't there either. Red turned and looked at the refrigerator, and found a note taped to it. He tore it from the metal door, and began reading it.
Sorry, but I had to leave before you woke up. I couldn't stand sitting here any longer. When I feel like I can come back, I'll contact you first
Red crumpled the note into his hand, and sighed deeply. He let his back rest against the item. Red felt betrayed, he knew; he knew that Richard didn't intend it, but he couldn't help but feel this way. Red dropped the note and he placed his hands over his face, and shook his head. 'Fuck.Richard' he seethed through his tears. Despite Richard having this sick, and unholy fascination with Slade, Richard was the only reason for Red to stick around. The only reason he didn't get into serious trouble with the law.
Richard in the mean time was on a plane to Louisiana. Ever since he was a kid he thought about going there, so he picked this as a reason to go. He regretted leaving Red like that, but he realized he wasn't strong enough to wait through the night. Richard wasn't too happy about that fact, but he felt there was nothing he could do.
The plane was about ready to land, and he couldn't be happier. A new place, and a chance to make a new life, however the past always seems to catch up to people.
