The Sthenognathus is a large reptile from the family Agamidae. While being most closely related to the pogona (beard dragon) this creature fulfills the role of the extinct hypercarnivores of continental Australia. While only being 30 million years after the Holocene mass extinction the Sthenognathus has lost most defining characteristics of its ancestors. The legs are positioned so the back legs are almost underneath the body and the front legs are in a sprawling posture. They hunt by chasing after prey and pouching at its neck, then they bit down on the neck so they can't be shaken off, after which they deal the killing blow with the front claws. (During a hunt the hind limbs can be used as additional anchor point on the prey item). Their throat pouches are adorned with a deep red color and can still be expanded for sexual display. When not hunting they tend to lay on big rocks or in trees like the extinct leopards. They are around 4 to 7 meters in length when fully matured but it can differ depending the availability of food.
