Zim opened his eyes slowly. Everything was blurry. He was laying down on something.

“W-where am I?” Zim asked out loud.

“You’re at the nurse’s office,” a familiar voice said.

Zim turned his head to see Gaz standing beside him.

“You passed out. We didn’t know what to do,” Gaz said.

“You ok?” asked another voice.

Zim looked over at a wall to see Tak eating a few crackers the nurse had given her since she was hungry.

“I’m fine,” Zim said holding his head.

“Do you have any idea why you passed out?” Gaz asked.

“Uhhh…not really,” Zim lied sitting up and not making eye contact.

Gaz sighed.

“As long as you’re feeling well now, everything is fine,” Gaz said.

Zim smiled.

“Even though you’re feeling well now, I think we should do a few scans on you to see if you’re sick,” Tak said throwing away a cracker rapper and taking a scanner out of her pak.

Zim nodded. Tak was about to scan him when the nurse came in. Tak hid the scanner behind her back.

“So how are we doing?” the nurse asked Zim.

“Fine thank you,” Zim said with a smile.

Thankfully the nurse was much nicer than the teachers. She sometimes let kids just stay in the office if they didn’t want to be in the classroom with their teachers and gave them passes on why they skipped class for fake sicknesses.

“That’s good. Now if you don’t mind can I take your temperature?” the nurse asked taking a thermometer out.

Zim nodded and opened his mouth. She stuck it in and Zim moved his tongue so it could go under.

“I’ll be right back. It’s my lunch time so I’ll check up on you in a little bit,” the nurse said.

“Ok fen,” Zim said with the thermometer still in his mouth.

Gaz smiled at the silly way Zim talked when the thermometer was in his mouth. The nurse walked away. Tak pulled the scanner out and started scanning his body.

“There seems to be nothing wrong with your pak,” Tak said looking at the scanner.

“Oh fell. Fe can feck if ouf lafer,” Zim said trying to talk.

“How about we get you something to eat? Lunch period passed so I’m going to have to try to sneak something,” Gaz said.

Zim nodded. Gaz went to the lunch room to see if there was anything Zim could eat. Zim felt weird again. Tak looked at Zim.

“Zim? Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” Tak asked.

“Yef. I feel fine,” Zim said.

“Ok then,” she said before putting the scanner back into her pak.

The nurse came in to check on Zim.

“Now if I can just take this back,” she said reaching for the thermometer.

She took the thermometer and looked at it.

“It’s a bit high. Maybe we should send you home,” the nurse said, “Is there anyone I can call that can pick you up?” she asked reaching for a phone.

“No mam. I have no family. It’s just me and Tak,” Zim said.

“And Gir and Mimi,” Tak said to Zim.

“No adults? No parents to take care of you?” the nurse asked.

Zim shook his head. The nurse looked at him in shock. She picked up the receiver and started to dial on the phone. She went to another room to talk to someone. Gaz came back with a slice of pizza and some milk.

“It’s not a lot but it’s all I could get,” Gaz said handing it to him.

“Thanks,” he said before taking it and eating it.

“Hello? Yes. This is New York City’s high school nurse. I wish to speak to the government,” the nurse said into the phone.
