Cameron's vision of USCM's was inspired by Nam era gear, so adding a Nam flavor to RDA troop loadout seems very appropriate.

And well Pandora, Hot Steaming Jungles, Indigenous persons causing havoc and generally getting in the way of the Occupying Force...Its Nam Baby!

And let's not forget roaring chopper action, door gunners spraying bullets, tough as nail CO's, the list goes on.
Really, when I saw the scene where choppers launch a barrage of incendiary missiles on that tree the first thing that popped out in my mind was Ride of the Valkyries.
