Description That delicate balance...
Mandelbulb 3D - Raw render, no post work.
(The hard shadows are from the positional light that is the "sun" in the horizon.)

I posted a version of it with iteration count fog here: [link]

Seems like you've been playing with the latest fashionable params or is this an original creation?
Anyways good job buddy!

You got me there JΓ©rΓ©mie, Kind of a Theli-at:ish twist I would say, not very new in that way...
I used one of my old params and added the generic ifs when I saw your Genetic accident.
I like your take on it very much!

bib993 In reply to MANDELWERK [2012-02-26 16:53:55 +0000 UTC]

The only "problem" when combining GenIFs with the Abox is that we are using Julia. I mean, interesting julia params for a Theli-at-ish box are not necessarily doing nice shapes with GenIFS, and vice-versa. Conceptually could there be a way to hybridize not only formulas but julia seeds as well? Mmmmmh, a topic for Jesse!

MANDELWERK In reply to MindsEye69 [2012-02-26 16:07:42 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Michael, I was struggling with myself if I would give it some more reality in Photoshop... glad you like it in the raw state!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MindsEye69 In reply to MANDELWERK [2012-02-26 18:26:10 +0000 UTC]

Yea it actually has plenty of atmosphere to stand on its own like that, but you could definatly also really add more story with composition in PS. Its really a matter of choice.. look at my Horse with No Name images... I was in the same exact spot as you with that. I loved the raw and I also loved the comp, so I published both.

Original with just a moon added:

Composition:

In the end I think I like the comp better... Generally I find that more work shows in the final product, but not always, its easy to overwork a fractal.

Beautifully and simply lit - excellent image Johan; reminds me of some of Bruce Pennington's amazing
work from the '70's, which gave me a bit of a minor sanity collapse at the time!!.
