Wow, some of the most arcane chess pieces I've ever seen (your other chess sets rival it). Perfect stuff for Lord of the Rings etc.

Thank you Daniel! Honored to get your approval!
The Knight is yours, pure mandelbulb! It wouldn't have existed without your quest, and not many of the other pieces either actually
Cheers

Now that is a good use for 3d printing

Epicness comes with an equally epic price (sadly). Maybe if I sell some organs I could afford it -.-

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MANDELWERK In reply to AliceEsther [2015-02-06 08:00:02 +0000 UTC]

I know... 3D printing is still rather costly.
So, keep your organs for now and wait a while!

Pawns are deformed teapots, rooks look like Big Ben, Β there are traces of rose shapes over some figures...is this British-inspired surrealism?Β

They really look cool and different. And why are you printing them in Netherlands? And where?

If you follow the link www.shapeways.com/designer/MAN… you will come to my shop at Shapeways, they have printers in the USA and in Eindhoven (for deliverys in Europe)

Chanteur-de-Vent In reply to MANDELWERK [2015-01-14 07:56:03 +0000 UTC]

Wow, you make really good stuff. Are those all plastic? Or also metal? (I thought you can only 3D-print in plastic...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MANDELWERK In reply to Chanteur-de-Vent [2015-01-14 08:05:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks again Sofya.

Shapeways offers printing in a lot of different plastics + Stainless Steel, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum (these are printed in Wax and cast in a lost mold)

You can actually choose to pick up your ordered prints in Eindhoven if you talk to the staff at Shapeways (and maybe go in and take a look at the factory...

Chanteur-de-Vent In reply to MANDELWERK [2015-01-14 12:02:23 +0000 UTC]

Cool. So, technically, if you design the parts separately you could make some things from two different metals and all?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MANDELWERK In reply to Chanteur-de-Vent [2015-01-14 13:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can only print one metal per print... but the technique to mix materials is coming!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chanteur-de-Vent In reply to MANDELWERK [2015-01-15 07:10:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but I meant that you print two parts separately, from two different metals, and then combine them to one piece physically. Like a puzzle of two pieces.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MANDELWERK In reply to Chanteur-de-Vent [2015-01-15 07:20:25 +0000 UTC]

That is definitely possible!
