Flynn

“Ahem.”

Flynn stood upright and straightened his back, tilted his head upwards and gazed straight ahead. Out of the corner of his eye he could see his mother looking over him with a loaded expression, firm and demanding, yet with some increment of gentleness.

“You are here on business, but you may have time to yourself afterwards.”

He nodded. She didn’t need to remind him. Again.

“Go on then. Remember to keep that tail out of sight.”

With that, he walked forward with careful steps towards the entrance of the mansion. At that comment, Felix had turned away from her, opting to face the same direction Flynn had, teeth bared but likewise silent.

Once they were out of range, Felix shook himself and stood tall. “I hate it when she mentions me.” he grumbled. "I'll do whatever I want to!"

He turned to Flynn, switching his frown to a toothy grin. “But enough about her, or me for that matter. We’re at a party! We need to let loose after that heist stuff. What do you want to do first? Snacks? Drinks? The band?”

But Flynn’s attention was already taken as he scanned through the crowds. “We have a target number of clients to reach tonight. Tell me once you've seen one, it’s the list of investors that mother had us look over two weeks back.”

Felix drooped, but complied with a sigh. Well, hopefully with his help, they could finish up early and still have time to relax.

Reese

With chin in her paws, she followed the few familiar faces she had met so far with her eyes, switching targets occasionally when she lost track of the last one. She kicked her feet lightly against the windowsill where she sat, letting out a soft sigh.

Something was bound to happen eventually right?

She really thought that there would be something to be hyped up about tonight’s event by how everyone back at base was scrambling to prepare for tonight’s big party. Weren’t parties supposed to be…I dunno, loud? Instead, she was dragged into clothing stores and salons to get herself “cleaned up”, as Eri put it, so she could look decent. The pigtails didn’t feel too different from her usual style, but-

She tugged at the fabric wrapped around her shoulders, hoping to wrestle it into a more comfortable position.

-the clothes and the masks she could’ve done without. What was the point of wearing all this anyways? The masks especially, what was there to hide? A mon’s distinctive features were anywhere but their faces.

She had to say though, this wasn’t what she expected when she signed up to be an enforcer. The past missions were the real deal, bank explosions, a race off the bridge playing keep away with precious artifacts, that was where the excitement was! But what’s with these city folk events playing dress up to talk? The most impressive thing to happen tonight was seeing how high Leo could pile on his plate.

“I spy…” she hummed, tilting her head the other direction. “...with my little eye…”

A flaaffy dressed in a striped black and red outfit. Her shoulders looked pretty stiff considering she was at a party, maybe she should get those checked out. They haven’t spoken much before, but she might get something interesting out of this interaction. She hopped off the window ledge, drifting in her general direction.

“Looking pretty sharp, or should I say ‘Flashy?” she teased upon reaching her.

“Ah, Reese,” she regarded her with a nod. “I hope your patrols have been going well.”

She shrugged, a little miffed that her joke was ignored. “Yeah, sure. Nothing’s exploded yet, but give it time.”

Flash crossed her arms, putting on a slightly crossed expression as well. “You’re not taking this seriously enough! A Masquerade is the perfect time for those outlaws to strike. If we aren’t on our best, they could jump us again. In fact, I’m almost certain that I felt the presence of them among us. Here she lowered her tone to an exaggerated whisper, “Outlaws, I mean.”

“Ohhh…” She and Flash shared a serious nod and she crossed her arms with vigor.

“I understand. I’ll take the patrol more seriously, now that I’ve seen how, serious, it is.”

Flash nods once. “May justice prevail.”

Once Flash went off to continue her patrol, Reese’s face split into a grin, not able to hold it in any longer. Oh, these serious types were the best. She scanned through the room, giving the mons in front of her a thoughtful glance.

“Outlaws, huh?”

It was a pretty good opportunity to go undercover and steal things. And with everyone so down here, those empty rooms upstairs might not be so empty after all. She headed for the staircases towards the back of the room, passing a vigilant Erielle along the way. Maybe the excitement was hidden under the guise of patrol, she'd have to find out herself.
