Description Hey all! Here's a horribly disfigured Okapi, which is an elusive animal that lives in the Congo. It is closely related to the giraffe, which is especially prevalent in the face, horns, and long bluish tongue. It is also called the "forest giraffe"

I've been studying these a bit lately, and drawing the one from the zoo, because the character I've been developing lately is an Okapi. This is not the character, it's actually not even close. The character is for an entertainment design/concept art/narrative class I'm taking at CCAD. I plan on posting stuff about it here eventually, but we will see when I have more fleshed out. I really like where it's going though.

the idea for this was a contrast to the character I am developing, which is a lot more human. I was thinking of the okapi neck and hunch being very were-wolfish, and decided to roll with it for fun.

That is one beautiful drawing/sketch! I'm especially attracted by the strength this animal expresses and the fierce look in his eyes.

This for some reasons remind me of "Animals" by Maroon5.

Oh man, this is crazy! In a good way, of course. I don't think I've seen many people draw okapis in any way, much less something like this!
Super original idea, and very well executed too- I would never have thought to do what you did with the hands, hah

Thank you! O: I'm quite flattered, actually.

I've been drawing Okapis for weeks now, I'm kind of surprised I thought of this too. It's totally the opposite of what they are, but the head, neck, and hunch just already had the shape.

Also, I love hoof tipped hands ;_; every anthro ungulate I do ever has them, they're so great. Granted, the only 2 fingers and a thumb was a new thing for me, but I like how it came out!

You're welcome ^^ And yep, I'd seen the hoof hands before, it's just that if I had been in charge, I would probably have given him five fingers without thinking too much about it. I'm glad you didn't!
