A portrait I made of Mathilda, one of the lead characters in my favourite movie of all time: LΓ©on the Professional !!

Mathilda Lando is played by Natalie Portman.


This drawing was a lot of work, and it looks better when you see the original one; every time I make portraits, my scanner messes them up. But I still hope you like this one too. The hair looks a little rough here, though I spent so much time on making the hair as realistic as I could in the original drawing!


Difficult was the shading. Not the rough shading underneath her hair - but the little detailed parts, like her eyes.

Total... 3 hours I think.

No Photoshop used
Except for contrast because of the scanner-problem I already told you about.

Yes, yes, I know Im obsessed with this movie but it really IS the best movie ever. So go watch it! Now!

Nice job Kelly! I actually think the hair came out quite good - I like the bangs over her forehead, and the little whisps with them. And of course those eyes are amazing - you even managed to capture a little puffiness under them! For me, that one (closer) eye and the highlights and shading around it, giving it so much depth, makes the whole picture. Noses must be tough for everyone (I looked at hundreds back in August, and even master painters seem to have trouble sometimes) but I keep going back to her eyes. Perhaps because they are dark areas surrounded by highlights, or maybe because they are clear and brilliant and sharp, compared to the soft shading around them? I can't get over how real they look - and how much emotion there seems to be in them! And - I can't believe you managed this in only 3 hours! !!

Hehe I think we could both save a lot of time if we just exchanged thankyou's right from the start, and bypassed the comments on each others' stuff! But no, I wouldn't want to give up commenting - that's when I spend the most time looking at your work, and seeing things I would have missed if I didn't spend the time to look at it closely. And its great to see (and learn) how you've tackled one problem or another - lighting, highlights on a water droplet, the shadow on a strand of hair, the blue green shimmer on a jacket, the glistening of a watery eye. Makes my day. (ok ok I give you a free pass, you don't have to thank me back!! )

Actually, today I searched all over town for a Leon movie poster (I have some cool posters of Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and other movies - but not even a decent Leon poster! )... but I just couldnt find one. Sniff. I'll probably search on the internet now

I have to everything off Ebay... ugh. (AHH! PULP FICTION!! NOT FAIR!!!)

I slightly got ripped off, on the one on my wall. [It has creases all down the right side of it. ]

I had to get color/map pencils and color in all the white areas (i was so mad).

The one rolled up is the Italian(i think ) Poster... I hate it... i only got it, bcuz that was the only option i had at the time... still hate it.

I thought it was cool on the Internet, but once I saw it full size and Big... it looks like a cheap crop/cut out that someone did in PhotoShop... oh well.

Took me about 4 years to get a Jean Reno autograph. I'm so proud of it, lol. Its the only autograph i got for the signature. The rest of the autos i just got for the picture.... but my arm is covering him, in the picture.. ugh.


You can still be the biggest fan, even though ur collection may not be as bigger as someone else's. lol. It took me 4-5 year to get all those^ lol

Yay Ebay! Well we have some Dutch websites who are a bit like Ebay, but I couldnt find any Leon posters. But.. if I go to Amsterdam in a few weeks again, Im sure I'll find a good one!

It's the 1st auto that was in the US, and not Europe. I cant get autos from Europe on Eday, because the prise doubles... and if u have a Auto that's $25 and it doubled to be $50 PLUS the shipping cost, thats one expensive piece of writting, lol.


I was just at the right page at the right time, lol. The B&W pic of his sig is a fake.. I only wanted it for the photo... and he wrote pretty on it, too.
