Spanner woke up from her hypnotic slumber only to find herself incapeable of movement. Her body hanging in a tight unsolveable knot. She realised to her frustration any attempt to speak had been made impossible too, because of the gag over her mouth. Which was her own elastic arm, no less.

As she surveyed the room she discovered her long elastic frame covered the entire room almmost reminding her of a spiders web. A reality that was further enforced as she saw all her female crime fighter colleagues hanging suspended in midair, wrapped up till their noses in her stretchy body. Invisible Woman, Crystal and She-Hulk was scowling at her while Valeria Richards was busy looking up at the ceiling with a worried expression.

Spanner tore herself from the angry gazes and looked to the same direction as Valeria. What she saw answered her next question. Why had none of her powerful colleagues been able to escape these petty restrains yet? Sure, they were tight but a well placed expanding force field would make an easy escape.

Over each of their heads, hovered a drone finely tuned to detect any and all movement be they excessive struggling or super powers. Spanner recognized the tech. She knew they were connected to a bomb. And what a bomb it was.

In the middle of the room an orb with evershifting material inside it, flowed in place. Looking not unlike a sun, all the hostages knew it had the same potential to explode with the power of one. If any of the heroines activated the sensors of their hovering tattletales they would all be blown sky high, taking halph of the planet with it.

Spanner recollected her memory but could muster to remember the day they had stopped a gang from smuggling the same WMD out if the country and brought it to their base of operations for study. Anything after that was a haze. She knew her failing memory was no coincidence. Her mind had been taken over by some unknown force and she had restrained everyone who could fight back. She knew whoever had used her as a pawn was now within the base, busy stealing their secrets.
