Finally done
OK, no, it hasn't actually been that long since I started, but this one required quite a lot of work. Some of you might remember him from a double portrait piece I posted during the summer: hiddengems.deviantart.com/art/… He's an OC I've been having a lot of fun with recently, and I'd been meaning to draw him again and refine his design for a little while. I'm veryveryvery pleased with him, but I apologise for the half-assed attempt at a background and the dodgy shading on the hand. Still a lot to learn, but I'm trying.

I like the lines in the eyebrow. Is that an art hightlight technique thing or a fashon thing? Either way, great job!

I had great fun for working on him, yes. He was a very interesting challenge.

But hey, this time I see nothing wrong with him, except maybe the neckstretch line, but I'm not good at those...
And the shading on his hand is fine. (You could move it over a couple of fingers, but it doesn't look too odd) *also thinks there might be something wrong with his arms/shoulders, but can't be bothered to figure out what or to look again*
The book's perspective does annoy me a little though. Mostly because it seems as if there's a warp in the space right behind him with is bending the bookshelf.
Unless it's one of those cool bookshelves that IS actually built to be a cool curve.

I did think about the piercings, and then I forgot. But I'm not entirely sure you'd see them...
I had to do the shading on the hand so many times, by the end of it I seriously wasn't really bothered how it looked anymore -- and believe me, it looks so much better than what I'd come up with at first...
There's a fairly high chance the background is all wrong since it's the first time I actually draw one, but hey...

Simple perspective lesson. All lines go straight and angle towards one point.
The piercings are rings right? If they stand out far enough from the eyebrow, they might just be visible.

After drawing him with glasses, I was afraid he wouldn't look as good without them (and I seriously didn't want to have to come up with cool-looking frames every time...) but I agree that he looks better, so yay!!
