I think it's good, but it would have to be uncommon at best. It definitely has potential in the real game. I say pitch the idea to Wizards. Nice art, too.

The art is pretty nice, better than many pieces from actual magic cards, in my taste

The text and title, etc. are very well done, it actually looks like it came out of some preview from a future set

Speaking mechanics, I think this is not very powerful
three mana is very cheap for this particular creature, but the fact that it costs BBB makes it almost impossible to play in a non-monocolor black. In my opinion, it would be more playable at 3B, to be put in saproling and spirit token decks, or maybe with other cool things, like an orzhov deck, in which the sacrificing of your own creatures might be very important
besides, i think it sacrifices just too many creatures. In the early game, this will only stay alive for a turn or two, and that is if you haven't lost any other creatures from the beginning. In the mid and late game is when I think it'd be better. Maybe it could kinda combo with itself and: sacrifice creatures to regenerate, and remove one creature card from your graveyard whenever it attacks or blocks, although that way sometimes it wouldn't even be able to block unless you gave it a regen shield first...

In any case, the wording of its first drawback is odd. It should say "At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control no other creatures, sacrifice Spinal Creepling"

for two reasons: the during your upkeep thing could cause some rules issues because of timing. guys could get confused as to wether they can play abilities first, or when to stack it if they have other at the beginning of your upkeep effects. the second is that the clause is useles without the word "other" before creatures, because the Spinal Creepling will always be in play when its ability checks for creatures, and if it's not in play, you can't sacrifice it anyway

kind of hastily written review, but long

good job, it would be nice to playtest this as it is
I'll put it in a deck, see if I'm wrong

Thanks for replying.

Yeah it definately wouldn't cut it in constructed tournaments, I just thought it would be cool to make little eating machines that consume all of it's owners creatures and gennerally do more harm than good.
Hmm the rules issue, someone on the MTG group page brought that up too, I still need to change the text.
If you play test it let me know how it works out, I was thinking about trying it in my sui black deck with some carnophages and other small creatures for it's food, could stand in for phyrexian negator for awile.

I'm currently writing a little story about the origin of spinal creeplings for a comic that Montoy [link] will draw.
Nice thing about Magic is that you can make up a new plane and not worry about the story not fitting with the previously written MTG books, lotts of freedom.

i dont think its unfair (not for a black player) hehehheheheheh
5/1 is not hard to kill.
but if you have breeding pit or anything that produces tokens, it will be one big anoying creature.
this creature is a good way to kill of your sui creatures once you dont need them anymore.

love the art!!

Thanks for posting.
3/1 maybe? or do you think the regeneration is just too sick?

Downing it to 3/1 will be unfair for the cost of it's use, but yeah, I feel like the regeneraton is not that handy...
