this design is similar to the tank design in the game Factorio.

Those vehicle designs are so neat, that game it was a marvel to see, it perfectly fit my tastes.
I would just have liked for the gameplay to be deeper, expecially in the second outing. Same goes for the story: it had the potential to be a full fledged, nipping parody of war, but in the end it fell a bit short of it. Still, it was often clever and very fun despite the shortcomings. And very original, convincing art style, much better than the regular Famicon series at least in that regard.

Well we all wanted to make the 2nd game deeper with a little more strategy, less obviously level based, but by that time Nintendo owned the game lock stock and barrel and we were simply implementing there wishes and they wanted something lighter, fluffier and purely level by level.

Yeah, by what happens to be heard from the third party developers working on Nintendo's properties it seems like Nintendo has most of the control over the projects and sometimes even frustrate the team's ambition. Often it may be for the better, considering their experience and mastery, but I'm not sure it's always the case. That one on BWii was such a wrong decision from them... I may understand restraining some potentially overambitious ideas, but not that much, surely not semplifying the structure of a game that already felt the need of a bit more in-depth design. Too bad!
I'd love to see an episode going much further, truly exploring what could be done with that unique, captivating gameplay and also going further with the most mature sides of its irony; but unfortunately I'm not expecting it to be possible.

BW fell foul of Nintendo's change of focus on the casual gamer public and worse, BW just didn't sell enough units to warrant a sequel. You never know though, with the Wii U and Nintendo trying to woo back the hardcore gamers again there might just be a BW3, don't expect any change in the present format though, we'd also got so many complaints about our un PC approach it might get sanitized.

Yeah, that's why I never expected new Battalion Wars.

I only did the Anglo stuff and a bit of the Xylvanian, It was such a big job much of the stuff was farmed out to a freelance company.

Nope, all land vehicles would dramatically explode if you went in the water, we did have ships in the game though, no aircraft carriers though , Nintendo didn't want them.
