I am very easily inspired by things, and I must say that the fantastic movie Avatar, by James Cameron, has been occupying my mind ever since I first saw it on December 22. I actually watched the movie in the cinemas three times during the Christmas holiday! (And a couple of times after ^^)The wonderful world of Pandora felt so alive to me, and the visual effects in the movie made me stare open-mouthed over and over again. I just had to try and recreate some of it, so that's how this piece of artwork came to see the light of the day.
Jake Sully seems to have found an interesting little critter, and Neytiri explaines to him what it is. The sweet direhorse in the background probably just appeared out of nowhere
. I think I failed miserably at shortening both of Neytiri's arms, which I concider a great achievement.The Avatar movie and all of its characters belong to James Cameron.

Good. That other lizard, if it could talk, I'd imagine it would be like the balloons on Adventure Time; every time it appears, it says something jarring like, "Finally we can die!"

I'm not familiar with Adventure Time, but those balloons seem to be quite miserable

Well, one of the balloons manages to get the main character's wallet, so it's all good in the end.

Ah, well that's a tough question, because I stare in awe throughout the whole movie. 
- When Neytiri shows Jake Seze and flies around Hometree.
- When Jake is learning about Pandora and the life of the Na'vi.
- Jake getting his Ikran and his first flight.
- Gathering all the Na'vi clans for battle
- The last, great battle
- The hunt scene from the extended edition.
Putting them in a particular order is very hard for me though, so they are just mentioned randomly.

The Na'vi is a wonderful race, and their planet/moon has some of the most fantastic nature and animals I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind being a Na'vi!

This looks amazing! I love how you made an entire scene out of it, with an amazingly well done composition! Also, their surprised and happy expressions, the very sweet direhorse and little critter are amazing! Neytiri's arms may be a little off, but I noticed it only after I read the description, so it's not that annoying to look at

Thank you very much! I like to make my artwork show stories, because I think it gives them a lot more life and depth. And I'm glad Neytiri's arms don't bug you too much - I don't want them to cause innocent people any heart attacks or exploding eyeballs

Thank you! I prefer traditional art over digital art, especially when it comes to creating it myself. I just feel closer to artwork that I can feel and touch with my hands, instead of just watching pixels on a screen. But of course, digital artwork can be amazing as well - there are tons of examples of that

There are not many good refs of the direhorse it's true! But you've done incredible in spite of that.
