Description If you have read the amazing books by Robert Jordan, the Wheel of Time series, you should be able to recognize these three guys (I hope... XD). This is my interpretation of the main heroes of the story: Matrim Cauthon with his extraordinary luck, Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, and Perrin Aybara, whose connection with wolves is a special ability he's got.

I didn't get them 100 % the way I see them when I read the books, but it's close enough. I have a pure pencil-version of this picture as well in my Elfwood-gallery , but I think they look better with the colours I added digitally.

Medium: Pencils, colours added in the GIMP
Size: A4
Date: January 1th, 2009 (I intended to finish this on New Years Eve 2008, but I was a few seconds delayed )

To see a more recent painting that I made of these guys, have a look here: [link]

Thank you!

There are many things I wish to change with this drawing, but I'll just leave it as it is. But I will probably upload lots of WoT-sketches soon, and then I will change a lot - like Mat's hat, for instance

Well, you are able to draw nice things as we can see, but there are some wrong parts as I think:

1) Perrin is slicing his fingers gently with so ashamed-looking face (because his head is too forwarded); I don't understand why a professional
2) Perrin is associated with wolves usually, and here we can see bears or capibaras instead of wolves;
3) halo of dice above Mat resembles avalanche of boulders;
4) Rand's body is a bit twisted.

An in fact the axe is far simpler than that, there is no embellishment besides a half moon blade and a spike.

I like the image though, it might take work but you could improve on it, there is such a demand for good WOT artwork.

Thank you . I don't think I will continue to work on this picture, but I know I will create more WoT-fanart in the future.

I was just having fun with Perrin's axe, so it got more decorated than I intended to ^^ I also imagine Mat's hat to be a lot wider, but it just ended up like that in the picture. I don't quite remember if it's because I had trouble drawing it or not, it's so long ago. But thank you for mentioning it .

I'm not sure I can understand why a professional smith should hold an axe in such a way.

Thank you very much for telling me your opinion, I appreaciate it

This is a rather old picture of mine, and there are many things that bug me with it. Especially the wolves and the dices, as you mention. I haven't really thought about the way Perrin holds his hand before, but I suppose it may be a little weird. I think my intension was to make him feel the sharpness of the axe, without really paying any attention to it.

But again, thank you for pointing out things that could be improved.

Thanks! I thought it would be a good idea to represent each of the characters with something that showed their special abilities
