Dear mother
i finally found the herd today, its only 6 of the 8 horses that were spotted last winter, my guess is that 2 of them were young stallions, old enough to get kicked out by dad. He is this gorgeous silver horse! Anyway, i can start my research now, charting this herds behavior and movements will be the next step to my big breakthrough in horse behavior. The herd is very skittish, so ill have to spend some time watching them from far until they get more used to me. im gonna set up camp, ill send you a mail in a few weeks.

Dear mother
you always said that my perfect horse would be high spirited, i think i found her mom! this is a young mare, i would guess about 3 years old. but you should see her! aaaah she is pretty! my notes have taken a drastic turn for the worse as i forget to write down what i see when she is close by, she is the only one of the horses that's willing to get close to me. she is so curious! I'm glad i get to spend the summer here, but how would i ever be able to leave her behind when September arrives?

Dear mother
she is getting braver and braver for each day! she was so close to me today, i lured her closer with a few apples. she seems to trust me to a degree now, she doesn't startle as easily when i move anymore. sadly i am running low on apples, i might have to go back to town this weekend to get my lovely girl some more snacks.

Dear Mother
she let me stroke her today! he has touched me before when smelling me, but this time i was actually allowed to pet her. I have started to call her Gaia, i know that i have no business naming her, but i couldn't help it, i am in love with this mare. I need to figure out a plan, i cant leave her!

Dear mother Gaia is hanging more and more around my camp now, the herd seems to have stopped trying to get her to come with them, but they never go far anyways. we have ended up in a routine, she gets an apple in the morning and i brush her coat until she moves on to graze. at this point im not really watching wild horses anymore, im just watching Gaia, and tough she is wild spirited, for me she could pass as a domesticated horse now, she is so calm around me! unless she is in one of her moods! i have started to train her with a lead, she was quite quick in letting me put on a halter on her, its like we have always known each other.

Dear mother I will be heading home in a few days, can you make a stablebox ready for a new arrival? im bringing Gaia home! oh i cant wait for you to meat her, the only obstacle is getting her on the hanger. we have traveled back to my car, she willingly follows me now, but she does not trust the car or hanger yet. im gonna spend the next few days getting her used to loading it and if she is willing, then we are coming home!
