Took me long enough but here's Maple's official 2018 reference sheet! I changed her to a fox back in like October or something but didn't really finalize her design. I don't really have any plans of changing it for a long time.
Hyena!Maple back in 2016 I know was done on impulse, but I put thought on this one. Enjoy ^^

To me the design looks like it has a bit too much going on with the markings
but that might just be a personal preference of simpler characters >///<
The anatomy also looks more hyena/dog -ish than a fox, it would help a lot to see some references.
Anyway the color scheme looks good and the white brings out more contrast between the browns. It`s an improvement over the previous design

I appreciate the concern but I'm far from convinced that it has hyena anatomy, aside from maybe the nose? I mean, it might help to say /why/ you think that, cause I actually don't see it.
I did pull up a couple references for the full-body. Less so on the face and more for the legs and general body shape. Again, clarification is great.

The paws are a tad too big, which makes the legs appear more dog-ish. www.google.fi/search?q=red+fox… : Also the tail could widen a bit more to the tip, and turn narrower as it attaches to the body. Those are some minor things, but the nose/snout (idk what it`s called in english) makes the biggest difference. Foxes normally have a narrower/shorter/smaller nose than dogs/hyenas. animaldiversity.org/collection…
Foxes have fur inside the ears as well.

Thank you! I agree with the paws; and the ambiguity with the tail. I'll keep that in mind for the next time I draw a fox ^^ As well as nose sizing - granted I have an odd habit to make it larger for whatever reason.
Besides that, and since this is a fictional character (and not an anatomical study by any means), I wanted to make Maple's ears naked.

Another species change! Wow this design is so much more creative! I love it! Mine is just the exact same pattern as a regular red fox XP its boring. I love this finalized design, and I can tell you spent a long while thinking about it.

The face still looks a little hyenish, sharper nose, not as big nose might help?
