Description And now in full colour, even if most of it is very grayish. Because the battering ram called Grond is named after Morgoth's original weapon, nicknamed "Hammer of the Underworld", I figured it would fit to make the original weapon resemble a wolf's head as well. It might not be immediately apparent, but I based his face partly on Darkseid from Jack Kirby's "New Gods".

What do you use to give color to your arts? Photoshop?

I use a very similar old program called Photosuite, but it can be done with pretty much any free program, like GIMP.

He's definitely a large, solid-looking fellow! The figure seemed limited in scope, but upon reflection I decided I could accept that. Morgoth indeed limited himself by taking and maintaining the form of an overbearing war lord, so it seemed to work for your overall style. I like how vestiges of his original Vala splendor and inner power remain, but have been drained or twisted to allow him a more direct use of power.

Pretty much. With this drawing I've decided to consciously steer away as much as possible from the current popular depiction of Morgoth and Sauron on DA, which I feel is too brittle and pretty for my taste. So I decided to take inspiration from manlier and bulkier villains, such as Darkseid and Raoh, which fits with my usual way of drawing male characters. Just like Morgoth those two have their moments of unbelievable idiocy, but they are great villains because of their indomitable willpower and lust for conquest, which I tried to convey through his eyes.

I can kinda picture, Sauron as a sleazy salesperson. XD

On my list of things to draw is a picture of Sauron in his various shapes: the Dark Lord, a werewolf, a serpent, a vampire, Annatar, the Necromancer, standard shape and maybe Tevildo the Prince of Cats. That might end up a bit too ambitious to include all of these shapes, but I'll give it a shot.

The best salesmen are not sleazy when they make their pitch. It's the second-rate guys who let the mask slip.   Still, your comment is valid, since most sales pitches are geared to feelings instead of intellect. Not too surprising, since a rational approach will find the fallacy in any salesman's presentation very quickly! For further proof, just turn on the TV during any sports broadcast and watch the commercials.   Sauron (written along the Satanic guideline, see temptation of Jesus) worked on his targets' feelings and desires. Do you want riches, sorcery, unrivaled skill, the fame and recognition you deserve, a kingdom to rule? Then does he have a deal for you!

Evil shouldn't be that pretty; Sauron and Morgoth were not Cephiroth's long-lost brothers!   Morgoth in full Dark Lord majesty should be a powerful, imposing presence of monolithic aspect. I sort of got that feeling from your picture.

I love the club, too. The only nitpicking thing is the size of the Silmarils in the crown; I'd have done the three the same size. Otherwise, very good.

I've been thinking that when I finally draw Sauron, then I'd make his armour more flashy with gilded bits and stuff. I imagine that he would have a complex over being a former subordinate and tries his best to upstage his former boss.

A bit, yeah. That was unintentional, but it still fits considering the similarities between the two.
