My character for the Challenges Art Community of #Windsonde !I have very little experience with birds, wings are extremely hard, I have never had a gryphon character before, and I am totally new to the whole Challenges business. This community looked like too much fun to pass up, so hopefully doing the challenges will improve me in all those areas!
Plus, I fell in love with Tanq as soon as he popped into my head, and I had no choice in the matter.
Aery Name: Skrekrill
Character Name: Tanq [pronounced 'tank']
Character Species Combination: Arctic Skua ( Stercorarius parasiticus) / Canadian Lynx (Lynx canadensis)
Rank: Young Gryphon [pictured as chick and adult]
Gender: Male
Character Personality: A good natured, though mischievous, young gryphon who is learning how much he clashes with the violent militance of Skrekrill.
To be honest, I don't know much about Tanq's adult personality yet. I'm counting on the challenges to develop him.
(Those are shinies in his eyes, not some strange half-coloring or something. I am not stellar at making flat color look okay.

He looks like a Skrekrill! That face is intimidating, but I suppose he can't help it--I've always thought skuas look a lot more intimidating than birds of prey. And I love how integrated the bird and cat parts look. I have a Skrekrill character in development. Once I start working on his challenges I'd love to include Tanq somehow.

Hee, thank you! Yea, skuas are pretty fierce critters. Tanq can be fierce, in his right, but he's no Skrekrill--he's not fierce on command.

I got the impression from his first young challenge that he was rather clever--and I suppose someone who is both intelligent and not particularly passionate about aerie patriotism to begin with wouldn't tolerate being bossed around too much. I like the aerie change challenges so I think my Skrekrill will end up moving to Twistoult in his later adult years.

It will be interesting to see your character! If s/he is going to be up for switching aeries, then it might be someone from Skrekrill Tanq could actually tolerate!

He looks really cool. I'm excited to see so many seabird gryphs (and just generally anything that isn't the standard hawk-or-eagle, although I still love them too) in Windsonde.

The species involved are both very recognizable, and I like the way you reconciled their anatomy. I have the worst time with that with griffins and hippogriffs, even the standard variety. >_>;

Thank you! That was one reason I went with more of one animal than the other. The equal halves I can't seem to make work out properly. >.> With mostly lynx and a bit of skua, it was easier to blend them.
