Fantastic work.
Though if new Daleks were around then they'd just be varrying shades of grey/white (the original console was green to appear white in B&W), so there'd probably be a few white "supreme" Daleks around, unless the Supreme was so white it flared out the cameras, so whenever he turned up you just had lens flare.

I dunno, I grew up with the classic series Daleks and I actually like these. I like the shoulder section and don't really miss the shingles and I actually like the neck section not looking like the "We need the guy inside to see where he's going so we covered it with cloth" sort of thing. The proportions are a bit odd and it looks kinda like they bulked them up simply because they wanted them to be bigger but the things that throw them off for me is the bumper skirt and the sticky-outy back ventilator thingie. I like the rest. As for the color...I don't have too many issues with it. I like the red for the drones and even like the idea of millions of red drones swarming into battle. I don't really have the Power Ranger issue myself I guess mainly because I was too old to watch Power Rangers at the time. XD

There are many elements of the redesign that I don't really like but can easily live with, it's the hunchbacked shape which does my head in the most.
I was FAR too old for PR, though I did watch it with my nephew....!

Yes, if they flush mounted the ventilator thing on the back that makes it look hunched over and redesigned the bumper on the base to match the aesthetic of the shoulder section and it's contours I think there wouldn't be as big an issue for fans but right now those look too disjointed from the rest of the redesign.
I have to admit to actually enjoy Power Rangers Time Force though. It was pretty decent. XD

If they had modeled the bumper to match the styling of the shoulder section I think the bumper would have looked better.
As for Davros...I dunno XD On one hand depending on their accomplishments he might be thrilled that their evolution has made them a powerful thriving species again purer and closer to their original evolution but if he had an other hand he might be appalled by the color coding XD

I personally do like The Daleks, although I think there have been better monsters than over sized pepper pots. i surpose I love them more for their nostalgic value, as It just summs up the show for me, and brings back happy memories of watching The Daleks when I was little. And about the whole kind comments thing, dont worry about it, I know I love to get nice feedback on my work. I do Hate these new Daleks so much, they look fat, and ugly, and thyre voices are to deep, evern the creator of the new Daleks. Mark Gattiss said he didont like the hump on its back in DWM.

I got it yesterday and I havent read most of it, er.. this is gunna sound stupid but if youve still got issue 431 (with the big red dalek on the front and "seeing RED" written) then like gettit. No way!!! Haha that's a brilliant letter, I can see why yours was the star letter! I remember reading it a few months ago & agreeing completely, the scene where they're both wearing Tom Baker scarves was a real punch-the-air, shout-out-loud moment.... congratulations Tolco!!

I like the contrast between the vivid colour of the new Daleks and the black and white backdrop
The only problem I can see is that these Daleks wouldn't be able to move about in those low low doorways that even Susan had to duck though.
(somebody MUST have done a cartoon of that by now!

I think the primary colours bother a lot of those like me, on the 20-ish range, because we grew up with things like Power Rangers and Teletubbies, and the concept of the "colour team" is kind of embedded in the subconscious as the good guys.
Also I have heard fans talk that the hunchback is because they conceal "big badass weapons", though I've got no idea if this rumour is based on any fact.

It's that perception of colour = good guys that they decided to play around with, doesn't work for me though..... it's like giving Count Dracula a multi- coloured cape

I'm not really bothered by the primary colours as they were always a big part of my childhood because of the Cushing movies and the Pertwee comic strips, it's the shape that bugs me. That and the neck rings which look like a squeezy bottle.

I'm honestly not sure that they would, they've taken a huge amount of 'fear factor' away from them with the primary colours. For me the Daleks from 'Genesis' looked the most sinister, that uniform gun-metal-grey made them look like mobile weapons. The stone Dalek looked pretty good though.

But my 5 year old son likes these new daleks better than the old ones, and it is, after all, a children's show at heart. Maybe it's us and every other fan that's wrong, and The Moff wa right all along?

I think you've cracked it Paul, I was a year younger than your son when Genesis was first broadcast so it obviously had a huge impact. If I'd have seen the new Daleks at that age I'm sure I would've loved that version instead. The Moff I believe grew up with the two Dalek movies so clearly the colour version was for him. When you think about it, Matt Smith's Doctor isn't a million miles away from Peter Cushing either.... plus the new Tardis.... hmmm.

The Moff did say in the Mag that he laid down the law over the Tardis, telling the design team he wanted it to look like the movie box. I never really put that together withe the daleks til you mentioned it - how thick am I????
