Well, Fire and Air is a gas, water is both liquid, gas and solid, while Earth is solid only.. Not sure if that made sense

well earth can be liquid too (volcanoes ( lava / magma) the volcano godess pele ), also many culturess refer to earth as "mother earth" , gaia, and so on,... so may as well make them all female xD
but if you realy wants some balance 2/2, its realy just a question of point of view, any element can be made to look masculine, air as some sky/thunder divinity, water as some icy cold golem or so, fire same as you did there but as male works too.
but well as you feel, good artwork anyway, i like a lot, specialy fire

I dunno ... I thought the balance and harmony of nature would make it more a "2 males/2 females" thing, if ever they had to be gendered. And for once, I'll restrain myself on the "hard" part of the manly elements ... >.>
