The ARC-181 HEX-Wing from Incom/Subpro is a 44.5 meter long close-support fighter armed with a nose mounted heavy gatling laser and four s-foil mounted lasers. It is moved along by six engines (two per wing and two in the under fuselage). It is equipped with a Class 1.5 hyperdive and an integrated hardwired astromech droid, basically giving the ships their own personalities if not given memory wipes. The ARC-181 HEX-Wing entered service four months before the end of the Clone Wars and as such saw only limited action during the war, but would see use by the Galactic Empire until various models of TIE Fighter were available. Many of these fighters would end up with corporations or planetary governments loyal to the Empire after they fell out of Imperial service. A fair percentage even ended up with the Rebel Alliance through theft.
